Lucid Registers 26 EVs in Germany in September, Matching August

Lucid registered 26 vehicles in Germany in September, up from five a year earlier and level with August, according to data published on Monday by the Federal Motor Transport Authority.j

The year-on-year increase of twenty-one units reflects a low base, as September 2025 was the brand’s weakest month in a year and a half at the time.

That was also the month Lucid launched the Gravity in Europe, at the IAA Mobility show in Munich, in an event with then Interim Chief Executive Officer Marc Winterhoff.

Lucid has registered 166 vehicles in Germany in the first nine months of this year, up 17.7% from 141 in the same period of 2025.

Registrations include test drive, showroom and press vehicles and do not correspond directly to customer deliveries.

The KBA figures do not show how many of the 26 went to customers, or how they split between the Air sedan and the Gravity SUV. The agency’s monthly release does not break registrations down by model.

Data compiled by EU-EVs show the Gravity accounted for 87 of Lucid’s 140 German registrations in the first eight months, or 62%, and the Air for 53.

A year earlier the balance was the reverse, with 123 Air sedans and 13 Gravity SUVs in the same period. EU-EVs had not published September’s model figures by Monday morning.

Close to the 2025 Total

The nine-month figure leaves Lucid 17 registrations short of the 183 it recorded in Germany in all of 2025.

That year’s total was down 53% from 392 in 2024.

Lucid registered 42 vehicles in the fourth quarter of last year.

Its German registrations have been uneven through 2026. The company registered 11 vehicles in January, seven in February and 17 in March, followed by 21 in each of April and May and 31 in June.

The first half, at 108, was up 47.9% from 73 a year earlier.

July then brought six registrations, down from 46 in July 2025, which had been the strongest month of that year. August and September recovered to 26 each.

The third quarter totals 58, down 14.7% from 68 a year earlier, because of the July comparison. June remains the strongest month of 2026.

A Record Share for EVs

Lucid’s figures came in a month when fully electric vehicles took their largest share of the German market on record.

They accounted for 88,599 of the 256,774 new passenger cars registered in September, or 34.5%, the first time the share has exceeded a third.

The previous high was 33.2% in December 2022, when buyers rushed to register vehicles before a subsidy cut.

Battery electric registrations were up 94.7% from 45,495 in September 2025, when the share was 19.3%. The share has risen in each of the past three months, from 28.4% in June to 29.3% in July and 32.4% in August.

EVs outnumbered petrol cars by almost two to one. Petrol registrations fell 29.2% to 44,632, a 17.4% share, and diesel fell 20.1% to 23,058, or 9.0%.

Plug-in hybrids were flat at 27,861, a 10.8% share.

Germany reinstated a purchase incentive for electric cars this year, which opened for applications in May and applies retroactively from January 1.

Battery electric cars made up 27.2% of German registrations in the first nine months, at 604,144 vehicles.

Lucid’s 26 registrations amount to about 0.03% of September’s battery electric total.

Germany is Lucid’s largest European market. The company registered six vehicles across the Netherlands and Norway in September, all of them Gravity SUVs.

New Gravity Line-Up and Prices

The Gravity made its European debut on September 8, 2025, when Lucid opened orders in Germany for the Grand Touring at 116,900 euros ($131,000) and said customer deliveries would begin in early 2026.

The first German handovers followed in April.

The September figures follow a change to the Gravity range in Europe.

Lucid cut the SUV’s entry price in Germany on August 19 to 94,900 euros ($106,400) from 99,900 euros and added two trims, for a range of four.

The Gravity Grand Touring rose to 119,900 euros ($134,400) from 116,900 euros, and a new Grand Touring Ultimate was priced at 147,500 euros ($165,300).

Lucid said then that customer deliveries of the updated range were expected to begin in the autumn.

“The updated Lucid Gravity model range provides European customers with even clearer guidance when choosing the SUV that best suits their needs,” Lawrence Hamilton, Lucid’s President of Europe, said at the time.

Lucid’s German offers page on Monday advertised the Gravity Touring from 949 euros ($1,100) a month on a 36-month lease, and the same amount on finance at an effective annual rate of 4.99%.

The Grand Touring was listed from 1,199 euros a month and the Grand Touring Ultimate from 1,475 euros.

For business customers, the page offered the Gravity Touring Plus on a full-service lease from 877 euros a month before value-added tax, through Kazenmaier Leasing.

The Air sedan was listed from 849 euros a month for the Pure, which is priced at 85,900 euros ($96,300), and from 1,349 euros for the Grand Touring.

Lucid also advertised used Air sedans on lease from 499 euros a month, available by phone only.

The finance examples for all seven models carried a validity date of September 30, which has passed, while the lease offers run to December 31.

A charging credit of 4,000 euros ($4,500) on 2026 model-year and demonstration cars, which Lucid describes as up to three years of charging, required order and delivery by September 30.

A Sales Model in Transition

Lucid has been moving away from selling only through its own stores in Germany.

The company said in 2025 that it would adopt a mixed model that adds established dealer groups.

Hamilton told Automobilwoche at the time that Lucid aimed to “be represented in 12 to 15 cities” at first and in 50 to 60 locations later.

Lucid announced its first European retail partnership on March 16, with Wackenhut, a family-owned dealer group founded in 1948 and based in Nagold.

The deal was first reported by EV on February 24, 20 days before Lucid named the partner.

Wackenhut began selling and servicing Lucid’s vehicles in Baden-Baden on March 30, and Lucid said a Stuttgart location would follow in the summer.

Under the agreement, Lucid keeps responsibility for brand positioning and pricing, and Wackenhut handles regional sales and service.

“With two award-winning vehicles available, now is the right moment to expand our sales and service capabilities,” Hamilton said in the announcement.

Lucid has not announced a second German retail partner.

The French Market

Lucid announced its entry into France on September 3, its sixth European market after Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Norway and Belgium.

It will work there with the import division of Emil Frey, a Swiss-based automotive retailer, while keeping its own import organisation.

“France is one of Europe’s most important automotive markets and represents a key pillar of Lucid’s expansion strategy,” Hamilton said.

The company is due to show the Air and the Gravity at the Paris Motor Show, which runs from October 12 to 18.

In the Netherlands, Lucid named Munsterhuis Autobedrijven as its first retail partner on August 20.

EV reported on June 10, 71 days before Lucid’s announcement, that the Saudi-backed brand was “set to sign Dutch dealer group.”
