Lucid Opens New Delivery Center and Showroom in New Jersey

US electric vehicle maker Lucid Motors said on Thursday it is expanding its network in the Tri-State area with a new showroom, service center and delivery center.

The site in Rutherford becomes the 43rd location in North America and the 58th globally, the company said.

Erwin Raphael, the company’s vice president of Revenue, said in a statement: “New Jersey drivers have increasingly embraced the award-winning performance, range, and design of Lucid and we are delighted to open this expansive new studio and service center for our area customers.”

In the Tri-State area, the EV maker has locations in Short Hills (New Jersey), White Plains, Manhattan, Plainview, Manhasset in New York, and King of Prussia in Pennsylvania.

Lucid’s U.S. sales rose 32% year over year in April to 820 units, at a time when the company had yet to launch its second model, the Gravity SUV.

Registrations fell nearly 13% compared to March, according to data from Motor Intelligence.

Of the 942 vehicles registered in March, 912 were Air sedans and 30 were Gravity SUVs. In April, Motor Intelligence estimates that only five Gravity SUVs were registered, while the Air accounted for the remaining 815 units.

The company delivered the first Gravity vehicles to employees, family members, and friends in the last days of 2024. Lucid has recently started customer deliveries in the U.S., as confirmed by the interim CEO Marc Winterhoff.

Meanwhile, a second batch (with at least dozens of units) is ready to be shipped to Saudi Arabia for final assembly, the SVP Operations Adrian Price revealed on Tuesday.

Stifel on Wednesday called Lucid Motors’ first-quarter results “solid,” pointing to reduced cash burn and lower operating expenses. The firm also highlighted that the premium EV maker maintained its guidance to more than double vehicle production in 2025.

As reported earlier this week, Lucid saw its German sales fall for the sixth consecutive month in April. In the Netherlands, where its European headquarters are located, the brand sold one car, down from the 12 recorded in March.

Bank of America reiterated this week its Underperform rating and $1.00 price target on Lucid Motors, representing a downside of 57%.

Cláudio Afonso founded CARBA in early 2021 and launched the news blog EV later that year. Following a 1.5-year hiatus, he relaunched EV in April 2024. In late 2024, he also started AV, a blog dedicated to the autonomous vehicle industry.
