XPeng is allegedly developing two additional vehicles under its Mona series — a compact SUV codenamed D11 and a station wagon designated D11T — that would bring the entry-level lineup to at least five models.
The D11T, with the “T” standing for “Travel,” would be the Guanzghou-based automaker’s first-ever station wagon.
According to Chinese media outlet 21st Century Business Herald‘s report on Wednesday, which cited multiple people familiar with the matter, the D11 is an A-segment SUV expected to be priced around 100,000 yuan ($13,700).
Both models join the Mona M03 sedan, the recently launched L03 compact SUV, and the planned L05 mid-size SUV — in a lineup built into the brand’s high-volume sales pillar.
The report comes just days after XPeng debuted the L03 in Beijing, with pre-orders opening the same evening.
A European launch through a brand event in Munich is expected to follow on July 16, after XPeng‘s Managing Director for the UK and Europe Elvis Cheng confirmed in May that the Mona series would reach the continent.
A camouflaged L03 was spotted roadtesting in Munich late last month, ahead of the regional launch.
M03 China Dominance
The Mona series has played an indispensable role in XPeng‘s delivery figures throughout the past two years.
Debuted in August 2024, the Mona M03 sedan is both the brand’s cheapest and best-selling model in its domestic market.
During the first five months of 2026, XPeng delivered approximately 125,800 vehicles, with the Mona M03 accounting for nearly 40% of the total — roughly 48,000 units.
At the L03 pre-sale event, founder and CEO He Xiaopeng said the M03 had accumulated 280,000 deliveries in just over 600 days since its launch, averaging more than 13,000 vehicles per month.
L03 and L05 Positioning
One insider told the 21st Century Business Herald that the M03’s consistent monthly sales proved XPeng had identified a distinct customer segment: young people buying their first car.
The L03 was accordingly positioned as “the first A-segment SUV for young people,” emphasizing intelligent technology and stylish design.
The L05, meanwhile, is aimed at post-1995 parents who have just started families.
Ministry of Industry and Information Technology filings show the L05 will be a 4.8-meter, five-seat SUV offered in battery-electric and extended-range configurations.
One source told the outlet the L05 will likely become the most expensive vehicle in the Mona lineup, shifting the target from individual young buyers to young families while maintaining the series’ emphasis on smart technology and fashionable styling.
D11T Station Wagon
Station wagons combine the handling of sedans with the cargo space of SUVs, though the distinction between traditional wagons and sportier shooting brakes has become increasingly blurred in today’s Chinese market, the report noted.
Most models in the segment currently start above 200,000 yuan ($29,400), with a notable example being the Zeekr 001.
China’s shooting-brake market recorded approximately 176,000 sales in 2025, accounting for less than 1% of total vehicle sales, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).
Sales in 2026 are expected to reach roughly 250,000 units — annual growth of around 40%.
The pace far outstrips the broader passenger car market growth, though the segment would still represent less than 3% of overall volume.
Because the L05 is expected to sit at the top of the Mona price range, the D11T’s most likely competitors would be the BYD Seal 06 DM-i Touring Edition, starting at 109,800 yuan ($16,200), and the Lynk & Co 07 GT, which recently opened pre-sales from 165,800 yuan ($24,400).
D11 Compact SUV
The D11 compact SUV is expected to be priced around 100,000 yuan ($13,700).
Pricing for the D11, M03, and L03 is expected to increase in that order, with relatively small gaps between the three models, the report said.
Because the D11 is only about 20 centimeters shorter than the L03 and also carries an SUV body style, XPeng will need to clearly differentiate their market positioning.
The company has already introduced its Ultra SE intelligent-driving system, featuring 1,500 TOPS of computing power, into the 2026 Mona M03 and L03.
Future Mona models are expected to continue the company’s strategy of improving intelligence while lowering prices.
“As more Mona products reach customers, more people will come to understand XPeng‘s philosophy of making advanced technology accessible,” one of the sources told the 21st Century Business Herald.
Design Choices
The report also offered more insight into the product thinking behind the Mona series.
An XPeng product manager told the outlet that a large-scale survey conducted in 2021 found styling ranked as the most important purchase factor after brand, while autonomous driving placed only tenth.
Because the industry’s shift to new energy vehicles “reset everyone’s brand strength back to the same starting line,” XPeng concluded that vehicle styling should become its highest product priority.
“Today, styling is the number one priority in every XPeng product,” the manager said.
Looking back, the product manager said XPeng invested in intelligent driving too early, before core product competitiveness had matured.
The disappointing performance of the G9 prompted deep reflection from He Xiaopeng.
“He Xiaopeng learned to respect the fundamentals of car-making,” one employee told the publication.
XPeng introduced the L03 as the work of former Ferrari designer Juanma López — who also designed the Purosangue SUV, to which models like the Xiaomi YU7 have been compared design-wise.
“Very few automakers are willing to design a dedicated A-segment SUV for young people,” He said. “XPeng wants Mona to deliver an original and beautiful SUV specifically for them.”
Questioned during the L03 media session whether the company planned to move toward a unified family design language or continue emphasizing distinct identities, He said that “design doesn’t need to be platformized or modularized. Many good design principles are universal, and XPeng wants to execute those well.”
XPeng delivered 40,126 vehicles in June, its strongest month of 2026, bringing second-quarter deliveries to 103,295 units.
The company is targeting 550,000 to 600,000 global deliveries for the full year.
