Goldman Sachs adds 5M shares in NIO during Q2 holding now nearly 30M shares

According to a 13F/A-1 form filed Friday, Goldman Sachs added a total of 5,056,875 shares in the EV manufacturer NIO increasing its position by 20.54% during the second quarter of the year.

The fund has been increasing its position since the third quarter of 2021, having added more than 12 million NIO shares since then. As of June 30, Goldman Sachs was holding 29,674,587 shares with its investment valued at 644.53 million shares.

The firm ended the second quarter holding call options representing 200,000 of underlying shares valued at $4.34 million, an increase of 32.36% from the first quarter of 2022.

Goldman Sachs was also holding put options representing 2.28 million of underlying shares valued at $49.522 million, up from the 240,000 holding by March 31, as reported in the last form in mid-May.

On August 12, HSBC Holdings Plc filed a 13F-HR reporting the ownership of 9,391,158 shares in  NIO as of the end of Q2 2022 representing an increase of 145% from the first quarter of the year. As of December 2021, HSBC was the largest bank in Europe by total assets with $2.953 trillion.

Earlier in the week, also JPMorgan Chase & Co filed reported the ownership of 5,628,106 shares in the EV maker as of the end of Q2 2022 representing an increase of 33.12% from the first quarter of the year.

After starting the renovation works at its NIO House in Berlin, the Shanghai-headquartered EV maker began to focus now on the second one in Germany, its next market after entering Europe through Norway in 2021.

According to our local source, the company started the renovation works at the NIO House in Frankfurt before expanding its showrooms to Hamburg and Munich, where it has its global design center.
