Lucid Motors registered 846 Air sedans in the United States during the second quarter, data published Friday by Cox Automotive showed.
Sales plunged by 67.8% from the 2,630 units registered a year earlier and declined 8% from the 920 units recorded during the first quarter.
The last time that the Saudi-backed brand delivered fewer Air vehicles in a single quarter was between July and September 2022, with 654 units.
The Air represented just 32% of Lucid‘s US volume in the second quarter, as the Gravity SUV continued to overtake the sedan.
Gravity registrations reached 1,811 units between April and June, accounting for the remaining 68% of the company’s domestic sales.
The SUV has now increased its US volume for three consecutive quarters, rising from 1,142 units in Q4 2025 to 1,631 in Q1 before reaching its latest total.
The contrast highlights how rapidly Lucid‘s sales mix has shifted.
Just one year ago, the Air outsold the Gravity by more than 500 to one in the US, as the SUV had only begun reaching customers.
As of the end of the first half, the Gravity had become the company’s primary sales driver while Air registrations continue to trend lower.
No Model-Year 2027
Upon launching the MY2027 of the Gravity SUV in April, Lucid also made no announcement of a new version for the Air.
The sedan currently remains on sale as a 2026 model, while the company’s current retail offers are primarily aimed at clearing existing inventory.
The EV maker is currently offering 0% APR financing for up to 60 months on the Air Touring and 0.99% APR on the Air Pure and Grand Touring.
Lease customers can receive up to $12,500 in Lucid Credit on the Air Pure and Touring and $15,000 on the Air Grand Touring, while existing Lucid owners qualify for an additional $2,000 loyalty incentive.
The offers exclude the fully spec’d Air Sapphire and expire on July 31, according to the company’s website.
Brand Deliveries
Combined, Lucid registered 2,657 vehicles in the United States during the second quarter, up 4.2% from the first quarter.
The figures were broadly unchanged from the 2,635 units registered during the same period last year.
Cox Automotive‘s data suggests that the Gravity is replacing lost Air volume rather than expanding Lucid‘s overall US sales.
Through the first half of 2026, the automaker registered 5,208 vehicles, compared with 5,164 during the first six months of 2025.
Global Volume
Lucid reported 3,953 vehicle deliveries worldwide during the second quarter, up more than 20% from a year earlier, while production increased to 4,774 units.
Despite the year-over-year growth, the results fell short of Wall Street’s expectations.
Analysts surveyed by Visible Alpha had projected 4,618 deliveries, FactSet’s consensus was close to 5,000, and Cantor Fitzgerald had forecast 5,170.
Lucid shares fell more than 8% after the company released the figures.
Based on Cox Automotive‘s registration data, the United States accounted for 2,657 of those deliveries, or roughly 67% of Lucid‘s global volume during the quarter.
That underscores the continued importance of the US market for the automaker, particularly as demand for the Air sedan weakens while the Gravity SUV gains momentum — and as the company slows down expansion in Europe, as exclusively reported by EV.
Through the first six months of 2026, Lucid has delivered 7,046 vehicles globally and produced 10,274.
Of those deliveries, 5,208 were registered in the United States, meaning the domestic market represented approximately 74% of the company’s global volume during the first half of the year.
Lucid would need a significantly stronger second half to reach a full-year production guidance of 25,000 to 27,000 vehicles set earlier this year — and which has since been suspended by new CEO Silvio Napoli.
