Xiaomi Accelerates Production Ramp up, Delivers 8,630 Vehicles in May

Smartphone giant Xiaomi reported on Saturday the delivery of 8,630 units in its second month of production. The result represents a 22.3% growth from April as the company introduces double shifts from today, eyeing the 10 thousand units in June.

Lei Jun, Xiaomi‘s chief executive, wrote on X this Saturday, “New month, new goals. We kicked off June by exceeding expectations with 8,630 Xiaomi SU7 deliveries in May”.

“Starting today, we’re doubling shifts, aiming to break 10,000!,” he added as the company lifts up the 2024 production target from 100 thousand to 120 thousand units.

In its first full month of production, the giant had delivered 7,058 units of the recently launched electric sedan SU7.

The chief executive has recently noted that the sales volume exceeded expectations by “three to five times,” presenting both a boost and a challenge.

Xiaomi CEO says the great demand is also a “headache” despite enhancing that the “partners are relatively strong” and that “the [production] ramp up has been very fast”.

During the launch event of the SU7, Jun expressed Xiaomi’s vision for a seamlessly connected ecosystem, where human interaction with cars and homes creates a unified smart living experience.
