Onvo to Launch L80 in Armenia, the Model’s First Market Outside China

Nio Inc.‘s family-oriented sub-brand Onvo has started marketing its newest model, the L80 five-seat SUV, in Armenia — just three months after the vehicle launched in China on May 15.

N-Motors, the authorized dealer of Nio and Onvo vehicles in the country, published a promotional post on LinkedIn and Instagram on Wednesday highlighting the L80’s features, including a 1,200-liter rear trunk, 900V architecture, and intelligent driving capabilities.

Based at Grigor Lusavorich Street 7 in Yerevan, the dealer invited potential buyers to visit its showroom or reach out for further information.

It remains unclear when the model will be available in Armenia. However, the country is set to become the L80’s first market outside China.

Armenia does not publish vehicle registrations by brand, and neither Nio nor N-Motors discloses sales there, leaving the volume delivered since March unknown.

Onvo‘s overseas presence remains extremely limited, as the sub-brand currently operates only in Armenia, Uzbekistan and Costa Rica.

Nio‘s premium brand operates in more than a dozen markets across Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas. Firefly, the compact sub-brand, also began European deliveries last year.

Onvo, on the other hand, is not expected to launch in Europe until 2027.

Armenia as an Early Test Market

Nio Group launched both the Nio and Onvo brands in Armenia earlier this year through N-Motors, which opened a showroom in Yerevan in early March.

N-Motors currently offers the Nio EL8 and EL6 SUVs alongside the Onvo L60 and L90.

Adding the L80 to its promotional material signals the model is now being made available in the market, although the dealer has not disclosed local pricing.

Armenia was one of the first countries to receive Onvo vehicles outside China, alongside Uzbekistan, where the sub-brand arrived through distributor Abu Sahiy Motors in late 2025.

Nio signed N-Motors as a dealer — rather than a full distributor — in a lighter arrangement with shorter contract terms and no authorization to open branded Nio Houses.

L80’s Early Decline in China

N-Motors’ promotion comes as the L80 has struggled to sustain initial momentum in China.

Onvo delivered 5,949 L80 units in the model’s first roughly 15 days on the market in late May, according to China’s Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

Deliveries fell to 4,086 in June and declined again to 3,232 in July.

Built on the same NT 3.0 platform as the L90 and sharing a 5,145-millimeter body and 3,110-millimeter wheelbase, the L80 eliminates the third row to dedicate space to two rows of passengers and a larger cargo area.

Onvo claims a maximum storage capacity of 2,840 liters with the rear seats folded and the 240-liter front trunk combined — a figure the brand says is the largest among mass-produced SUVs in China.

A rear-wheel-drive version produces 340 kilowatts and offers a CLTC range of up to 605 kilometers, while an all-wheel-drive variant adds a 100-kilowatt front motor for a combined 440 kilowatts and a 570-kilometer range.

Onvo launched the L80 amid questions from analysts and media about whether a five-seat SUV at this size would cannibalize sales of the premium Nio ES8, which competes in a similar segment at a higher price point.

Co-founder and President Qin Lihong dismissed those concerns in April, citing a price gap of more than 100,000 yuan ($14,800) between the two models and arguing they target different buyer profiles.

Prices in China start at 242,800 yuan ($36,000) for the Pro trim, rising to 259,800 yuan ($38,600) for the Max+ and 279,800 yuan ($41,500) for the Ultra+.

Broader Onvo Performance

Founder and CEO William Li had described the L80 as a potential catalyst for the broader Onvo lineup, predicting at an internal meeting that the model would lift L90 and L60 sales in the same way the L90 had previously boosted L60 demand.

Three months into deliveries, the L60 has recovered to its best monthly result in eight months, but the L90 has continued to decline, and the L80 itself has lost volume in each of its three months on the market.

Onvo‘s overall brand performance in China has improved compared to a year ago, with the brand delivering 10,155 vehicles in July, a 70% increase year over year and the third consecutive month above the 10,000-unit threshold.

However, July still marked the second straight month of sequential decline, down from 11,743 in June and 12,029 in May.

Export volumes remain negligible.

According to CPCA data, the brand exported just two vehicles in July, both L90 units.

L60 exports came in at zero for the second consecutive month, and the L80 has not yet appeared in export figures — which suggests that any units entering Armenia would have to be shipped from August onward.

N-Motors has not disclosed pricing for the L80 in Armenia.

Nio Group’s dealer arrangement in the country does not include Battery as a Service, which is available only in markets with access to the company’s swap station network.
