The industrial park is being built in Anhui for a reason: in February 2020, the automaker signed a framework agreement with the city of Hefei and the Anhui region that brought Nio commitments of more than ten billion yuan in exchange for a commitment to build factories and research centers in the city – the basis for Neo Park.

Previously, Nio planned to build its plant in Shanghai or Beijing, but these plans were later put on hold due to financial reasons. Until now, Nio’s vehicles have been built at a JAC factory in Hefei.

According to Chinese media outlet Autohome in May 2016, the strategic cooperation was formally signed between JAC Moctors and NIO. At the beginning of the cooperation, the two sides built a world-class intelligent manufacturing factory – the JAC-NIO Advanced Manufacturing Center – which has the first high-end all-aluminum body production line of domestic independent brands.
