Salvador Caetano Auto has signed a distribution agreement with Zeekr for Poland, its chief executive for automotive distribution said on Thursday, taking the Portuguese group into a third European market for Geely’s premium electric brand seven months after it became the importer for Portugal and Spain.
“It is with great pleasure that I announce the signing of the distribution agreement with Zeekr for the Polish market,” Sérgio Ribeiro, Executive Board Member of Salvador Caetano Auto and CEO of the group’s global automotive distribution business, wrote on LinkedIn in English. “Operations are set to begin later in 2026.”
The signing follows the announcement by Hungary’s AutoWallis on September 2 that it would launch Zeekr in Austria alone and in Poland jointly with Salvador Caetano, its partner since the two bought Renault’s Hungarian subsidiary in 2022.
AutoWallis put the launch in both markets in the fourth quarter with six models from the start: the 001, X, 7X, 8X, 9X and 7GT.
Neither company has given prices, a showroom count or a date.
Ribeiro’s post is the first confirmation from the Portuguese side that the contract is signed rather than agreed.
Two Importers for One Group
Zeekr will arrive in Poland with a different importer from its parent.
Geely Auto, which absorbed Zeekr and delisted it from New York on December 22, 2025, launched the Geely brand in Poland in July 2025 through Jameel Motors, which opened a flagship showroom in October and made Poland the first European market for the Starray plug-in hybrid.
AutoWallis, listed in Budapest, already holds exclusive Nio and Firefly distribution rights for Poland, Hungary, Austria, Czechia and Romania under a June 2025 agreement, with Polish sales due this year, and distributes XPeng with Salvador Caetano in Romania.
One distributor will therefore run Nio, Firefly and Zeekr in Poland.
“As we continue our European expansion, we are looking for partners with strong market expertise, long-term commitment and a proven track record in automotive distribution,” Zeekr Europe chief Lothar Schupet said in AutoWallis’s September 2 release.
Zeekr Europe lists 20 markets, from the Nordics and Benelux to Germany, Italy, Iberia and the Baltics. Poland and Austria are not among them.
The brand has delivered more than 850,000 vehicles worldwide since October 2021, the release said.
Salvador Caetano’s Zeekr Year
Salvador Caetano Auto agreed in February to import and distribute Zeekr in Portugal and Spain from the second quarter, with a dedicated sales and after-sales network.
“This collaboration lays the foundations for a solid partnership,” Ribeiro said at the time, adding that the focus was on “rapid implementation, service excellence and a fully customer-centred experience.”
Zeekr’s 9X plug-in flagship opened European reservations on August 11 for a first batch of 200 cars at a €1,000 refundable deposit, with deliveries from December.
The Market Zeekr Is Entering
Poland’s electric-car market has turned since the subsidy that drove it ran out.
New fully electric passenger registrations reached a record 43,300 in 2025 and rose 16% to more than 16,000 in the first half of 2026, according to the Polish Automotive Industry Association.
June fell about 20% and the association said demand had weakened rather than merely lost its support.
The battery-electric share of new cars was 4.7% in August against 7.8% a year earlier, IBRM Samar said.
Chinese brands are the exception.
Their share of the Polish market hit a record 15.9% in August, when BYD overtook MG as the largest Chinese brand with 1,452 registrations.
Chinese brands registered 39,526 passenger cars in the first half, up 138%, but only 3,118 of them were fully electric, 7.9%, against 32% plug-in hybrids and 32% hybrids.
The premium segment accounted for 0.05% of Chinese registrations.
The fastest-growing price band was 200,000 to 300,000 zloty, up 336% to 4,380 cars, where Zeekr’s 7X and 001 would sit.
Zeekr has no official registrations in Poland. The handful on Polish plates are parallel imports through individual homologation.
