Polestar Opens Orders for Revamped SUV Models Across Canada and Europe

Geely-backed Polestar opened orders on Tuesday for the revamped versions of its Polestar 3 flagship SUV and Polestar 4 coupé across Canada and several European markets.

The coordinated launch builds on the initial rollout that began in the UK last October, when the upgraded Polestar 3 first went on sale after high demand for the model there.

The upgrade is now reaching European markets — including Sweden, where the brand is headquartered, Norway, the Netherlands and Germany — and Canada.

Polestar‘s US support page states the upgraded Polestar 3 is expected to reach other markets starting mid-2026.

Polestar 3 Upgrades

The Polestar 3’s most significant change is the introduction of an 800-volt electrical architecture, replacing the previous 400-volt system.

The new setup enables peak DC charging of up to 350 kW and cuts 10-to-80% charging time to 22 minutes under optimal conditions, which the company says is 35% faster than the outgoing model.

On the powertrain side, all versions of the Polestar 3 now feature a newly developed permanent magnet synchronous rear motor, while dual-motor variants pair it with an asynchronous front motor.

Combined output reaches up to 500 kW in the Performance version.

The SUV’s central computer has also been replaced, moving from Nvidia’s DRIVE AGX Xavier to the DRIVE AGX Orin processor.

According to the brand, this increases computing power from 30 to 254 trillion operations per second — more than an eightfold improvement.

Polestar previously confirmed it would offer the chip upgrade free of charge to existing Polestar 3 owners.

Polestar 4 Update

The company officially referred to the Polestar 4 as a coupé, to better reflect the model’s distinctive silhouette.

The update focuses primarily on ride and handling, with a recalibrated chassis featuring high-capacity passive dampers, new spring and anti-roll bar specifications, and polyurethane rebound stops replacing internal coil springs.

According to Polestar, the changes improve control, comfort and steering precision across all driving conditions.

The Polestar 4 coupé remains the brand’s quickest SUV, with dual-motor variants accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds.

The model is currently produced both in China — where it has been manufactured since its launch — and in Busan, South Korea.

European Markets

In Sweden, both upgraded models are available to order immediately.

The Polestar 3 starts at 924,000 SEK (approximately $99,800), while the Polestar 4 coupé starts at 619,000 SEK — or roughly $66,900.

Polestar sold 1,670 vehicles in Sweden during the first quarter, making it one of the brand’s strongest European markets after the UK.

In the Netherlands, the Polestar 3 is priced from €79,800 ($93,800), while the Polestar 4 coupé Rear motor starts at €59,800, or around $70,300.

Polestar is additionally offering a Polestar 4 Business Edition tailored for fleet buyers in the Netherlands.

The edition bundles the Pilot pack, Comfort pack and privacy glass at no additional cost over the standard price — representing a customer benefit the company values at €2,500.

The Business Edition’s fiscal value is set at €58,500 for the Rear motor and €62,500 for the Dual motor.

The Polestar 3 is available for an entry-level price of €78,900 in Germany, while the Polestar 4 is priced from €61,900.

Polestar‘s first-quarter registrations in Europe’s largest auto market reached 1,284 units, a 50.2% jump compared to the first three months of 2025.

According to a press release for the Norwegian market, the EV maker has only introduced the upgraded Polestar 4 coupé there. The SUV starts at 579,900 NOK, approximately $63,000.

Polestar sold over 10,500 vehicles in Europe during the first quarter of 2026.

North America

The upgraded Polestar 3 has also been included in the Canadian lineup.

The model is available to order starting at $105,000 CAD — approximately $77,000 — for the Dual motor version.

The Polestar 3 is produced at Volvo‘s South Carolina plant, which the brand recently confirmed would serve as the model’s exclusive production site going forward.

Canada is not currently offering a Rear motor version of the Polestar 3, and the Polestar 4 coupé does not appear in the Canadian announcement.

The country accepted the first Korean-produced Polestar 4s in the beginning of the year.

The scenario in the US is more difficult for the brand, as tariffs on imported vehicles have kept part of its lineup outside of the market since last year.

The 2025 Polestar 3 model is priced from $75,300 there, while the Polestar 4 is priced from $57,800.

The company only began delivering the Polestar 4 SUV in the United States late last year, after first introducing it to the market more than a year before.

Model Offensive and Outlook

The company posted a $2.4 billion net loss for 2025 but crossed into adjusted gross profitability in Q4, with CEO Michael Lohscheller reaffirming a slower 2026 sales trajectory amid what he called challenging geopolitical conditions.

Tuesday’s launch is part of what Polestar described in February as the largest model offensive in its history, encompassing four fully electric models over the next three years.

In addition to the revamped Polestar 3 and 4 coupé, the company plans to begin customer deliveries of the Polestar 5 four-door grand tourer from this summer.

A next-generation Polestar 2 sedan is planned for early 2027 as a completely new successor, and the Polestar 7 compact premium SUV is slated for 2028 — with production set to take place at Volvo’s KoÅ¡ice plant in Slovakia.

Polestar is guiding for low double-digit volume growth in 2026 — implying roughly 10 to 15% — about 20 percentage points below the 30 to 35% compound annual growth target it had set a year earlier.

The company delivered approximately 60,119 vehicles in 2025, a 34% year-over-year increase.

First-quarter 2026 retail sales rose 7% to an estimated 13,126 vehicles, a record for the period.
