Tesla Increases Model Y Prices by €1,000 Across Key European Markets

Tesla increased the pricing of its best-selling model across several European markets on Wednesday.

Prices of the Model Y SUV rose by around €1,000 across different trims in markets including Norway (by NOK10,000), France, the Netherlands, and Germany.

As of press time, prices in the United Kingdom remain unchanged. The company has not officially communicated the price changes.

The Model Y is produced in the United States, China and Europe. It is the only model currently being manufactured on the Old Continent, at the company’s Grünheide factory just outside Berlin.

Norway

The price changes were first detected by user ‘RoamingNorway’ on X, who wrote that “Tesla has increased Model Y prices all over Europe tonight.”

According to the user, “all trims have gone up 10,000 NOK (about €900) before VAT.”

The vehicle is now priced from NOK 399,990 for the Rear-Wheel Drive — equivalent to the Standard version, which launched in October at NOK 389,990.

The Premium trims — RWD and AWD — are priced from NOK 479,990 and NOK 509,990, respectively.

Tesla is the best-selling brand in Norway, where EVs represented over 98% of all vehicles sold last month. The Model Y is also the best-selling model in the country.

In Denmark, prices have similarly been increased by DKK 5,000, to a base price of DKK 304,990.

Germany

Last month, Tesla saw a recovery in sales in Germany — quadrupling its vehicle registrations both year over year and sequentially and setting a new high since 2022.

The refreshed Model Y is priced from €39,990, following the launch of the Standard variant in European markets in October.

Customers currently ordering the Standard version face a delivery waiting time of four to five months, with deliveries expected in August or September.

The Premium version previously started €5,000 above the Standard.

However, as of Wednesday, the Premium RWD trim shows a €6,000 gap from the base model.

Customers opting for the Premium RWD pay a minimum price of €50,990, while those choosing the AWD pay €53,990.

Netherlands

In the Netherlands, the scenario is slightly different, as the Standard Model Y also saw its price increase by €1,000.

The model was previously priced from €39,990, in line with other European markets. As of Wednesday, the entry-level price is €40,990.

The Premium trims are priced from €51,990 and €54,990, respectively.

Tesla saw sales jump in March, recording the first year-over-year increase of the year.

First-quarter figures reached 2,662 units, though they remained below the 3,446 vehicles registered in the first three months of 2025.

EV sales in the Dutch market have been affected by policy changes that took effect on the first day of 2026.

The motor vehicle tax exemption for zero-emission passenger cars was replaced with a 30% discount effective January 2026, dropping to 25% in 2029 before ending entirely in 2030.

France

Prices for the Tesla Model Y also rose in France, moving higher across all four trims.

The base price for the model begins at €40,990, the same as the Netherlands.

The Premium Long Range version, also available in the market, has been hiked to €46,990.

In France, where sales slumped in 2025, the company registered 9,569 vehicles last month — tripling the figures from a year ago.

European Sales and FSD Outlook

The Elon Musk-led company registered 79,539 vehicles across Europe in the first quarter, preliminary data from national vehicle registration authorities showed.

March alone accounted for 53,545 of those units, nearly tripling from February’s 17,820 vehicles.

The price increases come as the company is beginning to regain momentum across the continent.

The Dutch vehicle authority RDW approved Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (Supervised) software earlier this month, with the first software update rolling out to customers in the Netherlands last week.

A vote on EU-wide approval is expected between May and June, with the company having stated that it expects to roll out the software across the continent “during the summer.”
