Tesla delivered its 250,000th vehicle in the United Kingdom on Wednesday, 11 years after entering the market with its Model S sedan.

The milestone vehicle was a Model 3, handed over to a family who posed with the car in a photo shared by Tesla on X. “250,000 vehicles now delivered across the UK! Thanks to Tesla owners for helping electrify UK roads,” the company wrote in the post.

Tesla began UK deliveries of the Model S in 2014, with Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk personally handing over the first units. The company also opened its first UK Supercharger station that year in London.

Model 3 deliveries started in 2019, followed by the Model Y in 2022. The updated Model Y now has a recommended retail price ranging from £44,990 to £60,990, slightly higher than the previous version.

Tesla’s UK sales rose more than 20% in February to 3,852 vehicles, according to data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders. The Model 3 and Model Y were the country’s second- and third-best-selling cars last month, trailing only the Mini Cooper.

All the other main European markets posted year on year declines with Germany registering the biggest decline (76%) to 1,429 while in France and Spain Tesla recorded 2,395 (-26%) and 919 (-10%) units, respectively.

Across Europe, Tesla delivered 16,888 vehicles in February, down more than 40% from a year earlier, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association.

In China, Tesla logged its strongest week of the year with about 17,000 vehicles insured between March 17 and 23, reflecting the continued ramp-up of Model Y production.

Separately, Tesla on Tuesday showcased its upcoming Cybercab robotaxi to officials from the Texas Department of Transportation. The company reiterated plans to launch autonomous ride services in June but did not clarify whether those would involve customers or be limited to internal staff in the initial rollout.
