A Tesla Cybertruck has been spotted in Tianjin, China, on Friday with a registered license plate, marking the first time the model has been legally licensed in the country.
In early July, the Cybertruck and Tesla’s humanoid robot Optimus Gen 2 were both showcased at the 2024 World Artificial Intelligence Conference in China.
Although a few Cybertrucks have been seen across the country over the last few months, the vehicle spotted on Friday is the first successfully registered Cybertruck in the country.

Never Miss an Update on Tesla
The vehicle, which appeared in a video circulating on social media, is now listed on a Chinese platform for 3.5 million yuan, equivalent to approximately $488,500.

In the platform, the owner said the vehicle is “the first Cybertruck available in the country” adding it is “brand new” and “already registered”.
“The only one in the country this year. Only one new car available. Who wants it? Price: 3.5 million. If you’re interested, message me privately,” the owner added.
As part of the process to obtain a registered license plate, the Cybertruck has successfully obtained the vehicle’s 3C (China Compulsory Certificate) certification, a crucial step that allows the model to be legally sold and operated in China.
The 3C certification is a mandatory requirement for all vehicles and automotive components, ensuring compliance with China’s rigorous safety and quality standards.
