Electric vehicle maker Lucid Motors is expanding in Switzerland and is currently constructing a new showroom in Zurich which is planned to open “this summer”, the company’s Swiss sales manager, Patrick Steiner, announced on Sunday.
Lucid opened its first showroom in Switzerland in November 2022, located in Geneva. It marked the company’s second European location after launching its first showroom in Munich, Germany, earlier that year.
Steiner wrote on LinkedIn that until the showroom’s completion, Lucid will be promoting its premium sedan, the Lucid Air, and offer test drives at the Motorworld in Kemptthal, Zurich.
“After closing our Brand Awareness Corner in Jelmoli Zurich, and while we are working on the completion of our new state-of-the-art Lucid Showroom in Zurich City opening this summer, you may find us at the Motorworld in The Valley, Kemptthal/Zurich,” Steiner wrote.
According to the Swiss Automobile Importers Association, 239,500 new vehicles were registered in Switzerland and Liechtenstein in 2024. Registrations of electric vehicles fell 12.5%, while plug-in hybrid registrations dropped 10.4%, compared to an overall market decline of 5%.
Lucid, which currently operates in the U.S., Canada, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and four European markets, is planning to arrive in several new European markets this year — as exclusively reported by EV and recently confirmed by the new managing director in Europe.
In the Midlle East, the Saudi-backed automaker is preparing to enter additional markets within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.
In December, the company sold five vehicles in the Swiss market, twenty in Germany, and six in the Netherlands. Aiming to increase brand awareness in the old continent, the company will soon start a tour with mobile pop-up stores as it continues expanding its retail network.
Before the end of March, Lucid will expand its European lineup with the luxurious Sapphire variant of its Air sedan. The company also plans to introduce its Gravity SUV in early 2026, with orders opening this summer. A midsized model priced below $50,000 is expected to go into production in late 2026 and arrive in Europe in 2027.
Last month, Managing Director for Europe Alexander Lutz left after one year in the role. He was replaced by Hamilton, who had been leading Hyundai’s Genesis brand in Europe for more than two years.
