XPeng has signed Emil Frey Deutschland, the German arm of one of Europe’s largest car retailers, as a sales and service partner, as the Chinese carmaker races to more than double its German network by year-end.
Emil Frey’s Hessengarage in Frankfurt and Schwabengarage in Pforzheim took over sales and service for XPeng from Thursday.
Both sites will get a new XPeng brand presence combining advice, sales, service and vehicle displays, the company said.
The deal comes as Germany has become XPeng’s largest market outside China this year.
“A Key Market”
“We are proud to have won Emil Frey Deutschland, one of the strongest car retail groups, for XPENG,” said Markus Schrick, Managing Director of XPeng’s Central Europe sales region.
“Germany is a key market for XPENG in Europe,” he said.
“XPENG stands for intelligent technology and modern electromobility – exactly this innovative strength is what we want to offer our customers in the region,” said Alexander Ehsani, Brand Manager at Emil Frey Deutschland.
Schrick said XPeng remained “convinced of the franchised dealer system,” adding that a well-functioning supply of spare parts was another important condition alongside dealer quality.
A Partner That Also Imports GWM
Emil Frey, a Swiss family-owned group founded in Zurich in 1924, has operated in Germany for more than 50 years and runs more than 100 sites there with over 5,000 employees, according to the statement.
Its German business, based in Stuttgart, sells more than 40 car brands and imports Subaru, Mitsubishi and Chinese carmaker GWM.
The group already works with XPeng elsewhere in Europe, having been picked in 2022 to build the brand’s sales and service network in the Netherlands.
It is also Lucid‘s operational partner for its entry into France, announced last month.
70 Sites, 110 Targeted
XPeng’s German network will grow to up to 110 locations by the end of the year, the company said on Thursday.
That compares with about 50 sites at the end of 2025 and about 70 active partners in the first half of this year, according to earlier company statements.
XPeng sells in Germany through franchised dealers, and has added partners this year in Bavaria, Berlin, Stuttgart and Heilbronn.
Sales More Than Triple
XPeng registered 5,773 vehicles in Germany in the first eight months of the year, up 257.7% from a year earlier, according to the Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA).
That made Germany its biggest international market of 2026 through August, ahead of Norway and Israel.
July brought a record 1,253 registrations, and August 1,163.
XPeng is targeting about 8,000 German registrations this year, of which it has reached 72%.
It ranked fourth among China-headquartered brands in Germany in the first eight months, behind BYD, MG and Leapmotor, KBA data show.
KBA’s September figures are due in the coming days.
L03 Coming
Emil Frey will sell the G6 and G9 SUVs, the P7+ sedan and the X9 people carrier, with the L03 compact SUV coupe arriving “in a few weeks,” XPeng said.
The L03, launched in Munich in July, starts at €35,600 ($40,200) in Germany, €8,000 ($9,000) below the G6.
XPeng is currently offering a cash bonus of up to €5,000 ($5,600) on its existing models and 0.99% financing on all five until December 31.
The company will hold the global launch of its G9L SUV at the Paris Motor Show on October 12.
