XPeng Signs Distribution Deal in Nigeria as It Expands Across Africa

XPeng has signed a distribution agreement in Nigeria, the first it has announced in West Africa, Ken Wang, the Chinese carmaker’s Managing Director and General Manager for the Middle East, Africa and Caucasia, said on Tuesday.

“Nigeria, here we come!” Wang wrote in a post on LinkedIn, describing the agreement as “another important step in our expansion across Africa.”

Wang did not name the local partner, and XPeng has not said when sales will start or which models or prices it will offer in Nigeria.

The post included photographs from a distribution signing ceremony.

XPeng had not published a statement on the agreement on its website by Tuesday afternoon, and its Middle East and Africa account on X had not mentioned it.

Five African Countries

Nigeria will become XPeng’s fifth African country, after Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia and Mauritius, and its second south of the Sahara after the Indian Ocean island.

XPeng entered Egypt in June 2024 with Raya Auto, and three of its four existing African markets opened this year.

Smeia opened XPeng’s first Moroccan showroom in Casablanca on April 1, and XP Cars Tunisia opened one in Greater Tunis on May 11.

Distributor Axess launched the G6 and the X9 in Mauritius on May 29 and opened a showroom in late August.

When XPeng signed its North African distributors in September 2025, it said South Africa and Kenya “may become” its next African targets.

Neither country has an announced XPeng distributor.

Wang wrote that XPeng “has become the leading premium BEV” brand in Egypt. XPeng does not publish sales by country, and it has given no unit figures for Egypt.

Raya Auto said in August that it had introduced range-extender versions of the G7 and P7+ in Egypt, bringing XPeng’s lineup there to eight models, with two more planned before the end of the year.

The P7+ sedan went on sale in Egypt in May at 2,150,000 Egyptian pounds ($41,000), and the Mona M03 is listed from 1,299,000 pounds ($24,700).

The only official registration data published for any of XPeng’s African markets come from Morocco, where the brand registered 46 passenger cars in the first eight months of the year, according to the importers’ association AIVAM.

This Year’s Agreements

Wang wrote that XPeng had launched its brand in Tunisia, Morocco, Bahrain and Mauritius this year, and had signed distribution agreements in Malta, Albania, Oman and Nigeria.

XPeng named Mohsin Automobiles as its distributor in Oman in September, and Debono Group, which sells Toyota and Lexus in Malta, signed an agreement with XPeng in June.

XPeng has not announced its Albanian partner.

Wang’s region also covers the Gulf, where XPeng entered the United Arab Emirates with Ali & Sons in October 2024 and launched its brand in Qatar with Pioneer Motors in December 2025, before adding Bahrain and Oman.

Mauritius distributor Axess has said it will add two or three more XPeng models by the end of the year.

The company sells in 68 countries and regions.

Prices and Partners

The G6 SUV is the only XPeng model sold in all four of its current African markets.

Its entry price ranges from 119,950 Tunisian dinars ($39,900) in Tunisia, according to car portal Automobile.tn, to 2,595,000 Mauritian rupees ($54,700) in Mauritius, with Morocco at 417,800 dirhams ($42,600) and Egypt at 2,450,000 pounds ($46,700).

XPeng has relied on established local groups rather than its own sales network in each market.

Raya Auto is part of Egypt’s Raya Holding, Smeia also distributes BMW, Mini and Jaguar Land Rover in Morocco, and Axess is the automotive arm of Mauritius’s ER Group.

Nigeria’s Chinese EV Brands

XPeng’s agreement follows other Chinese brands that have appointed official partners in Nigeria.

CFAO Mobility’s subsidiary Loxea introduced BYD vehicles in Nigeria in March 2025, and Geely unveiled three Galaxy models in Lagos in June with TIM Motors as its exclusive distributor.

XPeng vehicles already reach Nigeria through independent dealers.

Dealer SayWheels Autos markets XPeng models on social media, and importer TheIAM Autos advertised a 2025 Mona M03 on X last week at 32.5 million naira ($24,400), including delivery from China in 45 to 60 days.

That is close to the 1,299,000 Egyptian pounds ($24,700) Raya Auto lists for the M03 in Egypt.

The Overseas Push

XPeng delivered 45,008 vehicles outside China in 2025, about 10.5% of its global total, and exported about 49,400 vehicles and kits in the first eight months of 2026.

The G6 accounted for 65.3% of XPeng’s overseas shipments in the first half of 2026.

The company has said it aims to sell 1 million vehicles a year outside China by 2030 with half of that target being sold in Europe.

XPeng delivered 284,367 vehicles worldwide in the first nine months of 2026, down 9.2% from a year earlier.
