XPeng Germany Reaches New Sales Record in April With 207 Units

Guangzhou-based carmaker XPeng sold 207 vehicles in Germany last month, setting a new sales record since it expanded to the market in early 2024.

Data published on Tuesday by the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) showed that XPeng sales in Germany rose 18% in April compared to the 176 units registered in March, marking the fourth consecutive month of growth.

Sales in Europe’s largest car market began in May last year.

In the first quarter, the company sold 432 electric vehicles — exceeding its total deliveries of 393 units during 2024. Year to date, XPeng has delivered 639 vehicles in Germany.

The carmaker’s lineup in the country includes its two SUVs and the P7 sedan, which is priced from €49,600 (about $56,300). The G6 is the brand’s cheapest model, priced from €43,600 ($49,500), while the G9 SUV starts at €59,600 ($67,600).

Competitors

Volkswagen sold over 49,300 units last month in its home market. The best-selling brand in the country had a 20.3% market share — meaning one in five vehicles sold were VW’s.

BMW and Mercedes, automakers that are also from Germany, completed the top 3, with 22,540 and 22,196 units respectively.

When it comes to new energy vehicle (NEV) brands, BYD, which sells both hybrid and fully electric models, hit a new record in German sales with over 1,500 units sold last month, a 385% surge year over year.

Tesla registered 885 vehicles in April, with sales sinking 60.4% year over year. Chinese brands Leapmotor and Polestar listed above 300 units each, while premium brand Nio delivered 19 EVs in Germany last month — a 64% plunge.

EV Adoption

In April, a total of 242,728 vehicles were sold in Germany, including 45,535 fully electric vehicles (BEVs). BEV sales rose by 53.5% year-over-year, bringing their market share to 18.8%.

Hybrid models accounted for 91,696 registrations, of which 24,317 were plug-in hybrids (PHEVs). Hybrids made up 37.8% of the market. In total, nearly 57% of new car sales in Germany were NEVs.

Europe

XPeng entered Europe via Norway in 2021. In April, it sold 333 vehicles in the Nordic market, a 190% surge year over year. The brand delivered 105 units in the Netherlands market last month, a jump of  72.1% from a year earlier. In Sweden, it registered a 63% surge with 98 units sold.

Having launched in Poland in March and with plans to enter Italy soon (according to VP Brian Gu), the company aims to double its presence to 60 markets by the end of this year.

The carmaker delivered over 35,000 vehicles in April globally, soaring 273% year over year, and surpassing the 30,000 unit mark for the sixth consecutive month.

In the first four months of 2025, XPeng delivered over 129,000 vehicles globally — 34% of its annual target of 380,000 vehicles for 2025.
