Two weeks after debuting its refreshed Model Y in China, Tesla is bringing the redesigned version of the world’s best-selling car to the United States, Europe, and Canada.
The electric vehicle maker plans to start deliveries of the $59,990 “Launch Series” variant in March. The Long Range all-wheel drive model includes approximately $17,000 worth of extras, according to Tesla’s website.
The “Launch Series” package comes standard with Tesla’s supervised Full Self-Driving software, valued at $8,000, the Acceleration Boost feature ($2,000), a tow hitch ($1,000), and customization options such as any paint color, wheels, or interior trim at no additional cost.
In China, the updated Model Y is priced at 263,500 yuan ($36,400) for the base version, a 5.4% increase over its predecessor. The refreshed model boasts a 3% improvement in range, reaching 719 km under China’s CLTC standard for the Long Range variant.
Tesla is still offering its previous Model Y alongside the refreshed version. In the Philippines, Tesla announced it would automatically upgrade existing Model Y orders to the new version, but the company has not clarified if this policy will apply in other markets.
The embargo for content creators reviewing the refreshed Model Y was lifted on Thursday, prompting dozens of car reviewers to share their impressions on social media.
Tesla China’s sales increased by 18.9% in December, rising from 78,856 vehicles in November to 93,766 vehicles, according to China’s Passenger Car Association.
