General Motors (GM) announced Wednesday that its EV customers have now officially access to more than 17,800 Tesla Superchargers in North America.

GM, which has more than 200,000 electric vehicles on the road, said its approved NACS DC adapters would be available first to U.S. customers, with Canadian availability expected later this year. The adaptor can be bought for $225.

In July, GM announced it was further scaling back its all-electric vehicle plans, postponing the launch of a second U.S. electric truck plant and delaying the debut of Buick’s first EV.

Drivers gain now access to more than 231,800 public Level 2 and DC fast chargers across North America. GM said that number is expected to rise as the company works to expand charging infrastructure “through collaborations in communities and along key travel corridors”.

In the second quarter, General Motors delivered 696,086 vehicles in the U.S., up 0.6 per cent year-over-year while first half of the year deliveries reached 1,290,319 vehicles in the U.S., down 0.4 per cent from 2023.
