China’s Weekly Insured Registrations: Tesla 14.3k, Zeekr 3.5k, Nio 3.3k, and More

China’s weekly insurance registrations from August 12 to 18 were published on Tuesday with BYD recording 78,500 new energy vehicles (NEVs) and Tesla following with 14,300 units — a decline of 8% from the 15,500 units registered in the previous week.

Despite the decline, the figures represent the company’s second-best week of the third quarter. The registrations of the revamped Model 3 represented the third-best week of the year with over 6,000 units.

The figures from BYD, China’s largest EV manufacturer, were flat week over week with its sub-brands Fang Cheng Bao recording 900 vehicles and Yangwang 100 units. The Shenzhen-based company secured the fourth consecutive with over 70,000 units registered.

The NEV maker Li Auto posted the second consecutive weekly decline of 3% registering 10,700 vehicles. Both BYD and Li Auto set new monthly sales records in July.

BYD delivered 342,383 new energy vehicles (NEVs) last month, up 30% year-over-year (YoY) and surpassing its previous record of 341,658 NEVs. The company also delivered 130,000 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) during the month.

Li Auto delivered 51,000 NEVs in July, achieving a 49.4% year over year growth. Year-to-date deliveries for the Beijing-based company reached 239,981 units.

The Shanghai-based EV maker Nio registered 3,300 units, the same result as the previous week.

Xpeng registrations rebound to 2,300 vehicles after having dropped nearly 23% in the prior week. The result shows an increase of 35% from the week that ended on August 11.
