EV maker Rivian has opened a 44,000-square-foot service center in Charlotte, North Carolina, expanding its network to 16 locations across the Atlantic States and 62 nationwide.
The announcement was made on Monday by the brand’s Specialist in Commercial Facilities Operations, Derrick Davidow, on LinkedIn.
“Rivian is excited to announce the grand opening of our new Service Center in Charlotte, North Carolina,” Davidow wrote.
The facility spans “44,048 square feet,” according to the Rivian employee, and “has been purposefully designed to support our growing community of owners across the Carolinas.”
“With the opening of this new Service Center, Rivian is strengthening our commitment to providing outstanding support to owners, wherever their adventures lead,” Davidow added.
According to Rivian‘s website, the company currently operates 62 Service Centers across the United States.
Of these, 47 are dedicated Service Centers, while 15 are Service plus Demo Centers.
Rivian’s Service + Demo Centers combine vehicle servicing with showroom displays and test drives.
While most US states have up to three Rivian Service Centers, the company currently operates 11 in California, where it is headquartered.
The Charlotte Service Center is the second one it opens in the state of North Carolina, in the East Coast, as the company prepares to further expand in the region.
Rivian has recently started construction of its second plant in Georgia, which will support production of its upcoming R2 and R3 SUVs.
In July, the company announced its new East Coast headquarters would be located in Atlanta, Georgia, as part of its broader investment in the state.
By then, Rivian also said it would “soon” be opening its first Charging Outpost in the East Coast — located in Southampton, New York.
It follows the two existing Outposts in Joshua Tree and Yosemite, both in California, which are amenity-based charging stations.
Rivian aims to open its Rivian Adventure (charging) Network to all EV owners, with over 80% of the stations already supporting non-Rivian vehicles.
Most of the stations that do not yet allow it are located in California, Oregon and Washington.
Rivian‘s charging map also features 29 upcoming stations. Of those, most are planned for the Pacific States, with seven being in California, where the EV maker is based.
The map also shows planned charging points in Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, New York and Maine.
The EV maker’s services include a network of showrooms across the United States, known as ‘Rivian Spaces.’
The company currently operates 30 spaces nationwide — including as one in Georgia, five in New York, and two in Florida.
In California, Rivian recently opened a new showroom in Palo Alto, marking its 30th U.S. location and 14th in the state.
