Nio hosted this Saturday a live event dedicated to Smart Driving and autonomous driving capabilities. The topic is nowadays one of the most discussed in the automotive industry and China, the world’s biggest automotive market, is no exception.

Among several updates, one of the most relevant for customers and enthusiasts of the brand is definitely the public rollout of Nio’s Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) NOP+ to all the models from the second generation — nearly 229,000 vehicles across China.

Nio CEO William Li said the rollout is planned for the last day of April and will improve the drivers’ experience in highways but also in urban streets in the country.

The new technology has been in use since the company delivered the first model of the second platform, the sedan Nio ET7.

During the conference, Nio CEO set a 2025 target of achieving an 80% share of intelligent driving time and enhancing safety by tenfold compared to human drivers. Furthermore, Nio’s founder teased an upcoming feature that will enable users to exit the vehicle during battery swapping — something not possible until now.

General Motors’ joint venture in China SAIC GM and Nio announced on Thursday a cooperation on charging services in the country. The partnerships follows a recent announcement in early April involving Jiyue, a brand formed through a collaboration between Geely Group and Baidu, which has also begun utilizing Nio‘s charging stations.

Nio delivered 11,866 vehicles in March, marking a 14.3% increase compared to the previous year. Of the deliveries, 6,737 were SUVs and 5,129 were sedans.
