The two-door Lucid Air that Shaquille O’Neal commissioned in 2024 from West Coast Customs has appeared at a Copart salvage yard in San Bernardino, California, with front-end and side damage and 2,898 miles on the odometer.
Copart lists the vehicle as a 2023 model year Lucid Air Pure, with an estimated retail value of $59,990.
The lot has not yet been assigned to an auction and is not eligible for bidding, carrying a sale date marked as upcoming.
The listing records the primary damage as front-end and the secondary damage as side, and notes that no key is included.
What the Pictures Show
Thirteen images accompany the listing, and the front-end damage is extensive.
The bumper and its cover are gone entirely, exposing the crash structure.
Both front cooling modules have been dislodged, one hanging free of its mounting on the offside.
Orange high-voltage cabling and the front drive unit sit uncovered where the frunk tub and closure panels used to be, and the forward crash rails show visible deformation.
Damage forward of the front axle line is severe, while the maroon bodywork from the A-pillar rearwards, including the fabricated one-off centre section, appears undamaged in the images.
One of the pictures shows the removed bumper assembly laid out on the ground beside the car, and the painted cover appears intact and unmarked, with the aluminium reinforcement beam behind it apparently straight.
A cover and beam in that condition point to a lower-speed impact than the exposed engine bay suggests, which would also account for the apparent absence of airbag deployment.
No deployed airbag is visible in any interior photograph, and the steering wheel boss remains intact, which sits oddly against the extent of the front-end damage and would bear checking against a condition report.
The instrument cluster powers up in the images and reads 2,898 miles, matching Copart’s odometer entry.
The cabin is otherwise intact, showing dark leather with contrast stitching, the standard Lucid steering wheel and Pilot Panel touchscreen.
Interior
Neither O’Neal nor West Coast Customs released interior images when the car was revealed, and outlets noted the omission at the time.
Copart’s photographs show the rear compartment for the first time, and the answer is that nothing was taken out.
The coupe retains a full-width three-place rear bench with three headrests, outboard and centre belts, split-folding backrests, and child-seat anchor points, all of which appear unused.
The redesigned quarter glass sits above it.
The Pure Trim
Copart’s entry resolves a specification that went unconfirmed through the entire original news cycle.
When O’Neal revealed the car in December 2024, neither he nor West Coast Customs identified which Air variant had been converted, and outlets filled the gap with inference.
The car is an Air Pure, the entry model, which started at $77,400.
Copart also lists the drivetrain as all-wheel drive, which places the 2023 Pure at 480 horsepower and 686 lb-ft rather than the 430 horsepower rear-drive configuration, a distinction that had been argued over on owner forums.
A second detail in the listing is more revealing than the damage.
Under body style, Copart records the car as a sedan.
The conversion removed two doors and rebuilt the entire centre section, but the vehicle identification number still describes a four-door car.
The 2024 Modification
The Burbank shop documented the process itself, posting behind-the-scenes footage on December 17, 2024, under the caption “The Shaq Special” and describing the work as a transformation from four-door to two-door.
The clip shows the shell stripped and taped with cut lines across the B-pillar area while technicians work inside the passenger compartment. The post has drawn 28,100 likes.
Finished, the car carried longer front doors, a B-pillar moved rearwards, fabricated quarter panels where the rear doors had been, and a nose badge reading “Diesel” rather than Lucid, referencing O’Neal’s nickname as a player and his second career as a DJ.
Superman logos sit on the wheel centre caps, and the specification was matched to his Rolls-Royce Cullinan, previously worked on by the same shop.
O’Neal stands 7 feet 1 inch and weighs more than 300 pounds, against 45.4 inches of front legroom in a standard Air.
West Coast Customs is also responsible for Mark Zuckerberg’s Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT converted into a minivan, and is familiar to a wider audience through MTV’s Pimp My Ride.
EV covered the reveal in December 2024, when O’Neal posted the finished car to Instagram on the Sunday, describing longer side doors and a redesigned rear window.
“When you’re 7’1″, you’ve got to do things your own way,” he wrote.
The coupe joined a collection that includes a 1998 Ferrari 355 F1 Spider, the 2020 Rolls-Royce Cullinan it was matched to, a 2001 Chevrolet Express G1500 and two Tesla Cybertrucks, the second of which he had wrapped in black on 26-inch rims with underlighting.
19 Months
The coupe changed hands before the crash.
A California dealer listing surfaced in May showing the car with roughly 1,600 miles and an asking price around $58,000, a figure that drew comment on owner forums for how little the conversion had added.
Between that listing and the Copart lot, the car covered around 1,300 further miles.
Taken together the numbers describe a bespoke build that recovered almost none of its modification cost on resale, then was written off, and now carries an estimated retail figure roughly $2,000 above what it was advertised for intact.
The Backdrop at Lucid
Lucid registered 846 Air sedans in the US during the second quarter, the lowest quarterly figure since the third quarter of 2022 and a 67.8% fall year over year.
The Gravity SUV now accounts for roughly 68% of the company’s US volume, a complete reversal from a year earlier.
Lucid launched a 2027 model year for the Gravity in April without an equivalent update for the Air, which remains on sale as a 2026 model while retail offers clear existing stock.
Current terms run to 0.99% APR on the Air Pure and Grand Touring, with up to $12,500 in Lucid Credit on Pure and Touring leases, excluding the Sapphire.
Inventory pressure is visible at the factory too, with drone footage over Casa Grande this month showing lots still holding 2026 model-year cars.
The company has never offered a two-door Air and has given no indication of doing so, having built its second model as a three-row SUV in line with where the market has moved.
