EV maker Polestar revealed on Thursday the first teaser of Polestar 7 while announcing that the SUV will be produced at Volvo’s plant in Kosice, Slovakia.
As its parent company Geely Holding Group pushes to cut costs and boost efficiency across its portfolio, the Polestar 7 will be built on a Volvo Cars technology platform.
The model will benefit from shared components within the group, cell-to-body battery integration with next-generation energy density and performance, and the latest in-house developed electric motors — according to the Gothenburg-headquartered brand.
Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller said the company will get access to “the best, latest technologies, in a cost-efficient manner.”
“With a design and sporty driving characteristics that are instantly recognisable, Polestar 7 will set new standards in the premium compact SUV segment,” he added.
The brand disclosed at the J.P. Morgan European Automotive Conference that its sixth model will be equipped with a 90kWh battery and built on a 900V electrical system.
Manufacturing in Europe will allow the company to sidestep the tariffs imposed by the European Commission late last year on all fully electric vehicles imported from China.
Regardless of the technical base, Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller emphasized the brand’s focus on preserving its identity across the lineup.
Polestar also previewed additional upcoming models, including the Polestar 5 and 6, both of which are expected to use a high-performance 800V architecture and 112kWh batteries, with system output of up to 650kW (884 hp).
Alongside the Polestar 7, the company also detailed progress on two high-performance vehicles due to launch in the coming years: the Polestar 5 and Polestar 6.
Both models will be built on an 800V electrical system and feature 112kWh battery packs.
The Polestar 5, a luxury GT 4-door slated for production in 2025, will deliver up to 650kW (884 hp) and is expected to offer 700 km of range. The Polestar 6, a two-door 2+2 roadster, will share the same drivetrain with a projected range of 650 km.
Polestar began in June selling the 2026 Polestar 4 in the United States, priced from $56,400, with production scheduled to start in Busan, South Korea. First deliveries are expected to begin this fall.
