Ford Motor Co. on Tuesday unveiled its new fully electric Puma Gen-E, with orders now open and deliveries set to begin in spring 2025. The model has a similar design to its ICE version and goes from 0 to 60mph in 8 seconds.

The all-electric Ford Puma is available in the UK starting at $37,990 (£29,995), with the Premium version priced $2,500 higher at about $40,518 (£31,995).

The Puma Gen-E will be built at Ford’s Craiova, Romania, factory, alongside the E-Transit Courier and ICE Puma models. The new electric model from the Detroit carmaker offers up to 376 km of range from a full charge before needing a top-up, with a 10-80 per cent charge taking “approximately 23 minutes on a 100 kW DC fast charger,” the company said in a statement.

In October, Ford reported its third quarter earnings results, revealing a $1.2 billion loss in its electric vehicle (EV) unit. Sales for its Model e division declined by 11% during the quarter.

Last month, the company said it plans to cut 4,000 jobs in Europe over the next three years, primarily in Germany and the UK, as it addresses weak EV demand, rising competition, and insufficient government support.

Ford’s battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales in the third quarter totaled 23,400 units, with September U.S. sales reaching around 6,300 units, down 18% from the previous year.
