XPeng Surpasses 40,000 Monthly EV Deliveries for the First Time

XPeng announced on Wednesday that it has delivered 41,581 vehicles in September, reaching a new record for the second consecutive month.

The company surpassed 40,000 monthly units for the first time since its inception 11 years ago.

Year over year, September deliveries jumped by 95%.

Last week, Deutsche Bank said it estimated XPeng to deliver 40,000 units, of which 37,000 were in China.

In its latest earnings report, the brand said it expected to deliver between 113,000 and 118,000 vehicles in the third quarter.

With September’s figures, the company delivered a total of 116,007 units.

Year-to-date, deliveries more than tripled from January through September 2024.

As the final quarter of the year begins, XPeng is only 66,804 vehicles away from reaching its 2025 sales target of 380,000 units.

From January 1 to September 30, the Guangzhou-based brand has completed 82.4% of its annual guidance.

The sales increase comes from a stronger product lineup and wider global reach.

In its domestic market, the company is introducing hybrid models, after having only produced fully electric vehicles.

In August, XPeng unveiled the hybrid version of the X9 MPV. The following month, it added a hybrid powertrain option to the newly launched G7 SUV.

The company expanded into four additional European countries, bringing its total presence to 49 countries worldwide — just 11 short of its full-year goal of 60 markets.

XPeng entered Switzerland through a dealership with ‘Hedin Mobility Group’ earlier last month, which also represents the brand in Czech Republic and Slovakia.

In Hungary, Croatia and Slovenia, where it launched in mid-September, the brand will be represented by AutoWallis and Salvador Caetano.

Its expansion in Europe also includes a new R&D center in Munich and the start of local production.

To speed up the local production — and instead of building its own EV plant in Europe — XPeng is partnering with the car supplier and manufacturer Magna via its Austrian subsidiary Magna Steyr.

Until now, XPeng‘s European lineup included the G6 and G9 SUVs, along with the earlier version of the P7 sedan.

The company is expanding its offerings with new models next year, including the Mona series — its top seller in China — and the P7+ sedan — which it describes as the world’s first AI-defined vehicle.

Over the weekend, XPeng announced that cumulative deliveries of its Mona M03 sedan have reached 180,000 units since its launch a year ago.

The model has consistently sold more than 10,000 units each month and has remained the top-selling pure electric A-class sedan in China.
