Guangzhou-based automaker XPeng held on Thursday a regional launch event in Budapest, which marked the brand’s official expansion to Hungary, Croatia and Slovenia.
With the addition of these three markets, the company is now operating in 20 European countries and a total of 49 globally.
The arrival in the Eastern European markets was first announced in May, when Hungary-based dealership AutoWallis wrote on LinkedIn that it had “secured exclusive distribution rights” for the XPeng brand in the countries.
AutoWallis will represent the brand in a strategic partnership with Portuguese group Salvador Caetano, which became Salvador the brand’s official importer and distribution partner for Portugal and Spain in 2024.
The automaker has appointed Marko Druzijanic to lead the operations across the three new markets.
Earlier this month, XPeng also officially launched in Switzerland, through the local distributor ‘Hedin Mobility Group,’ which also represents the brand in Slovakia and Czech Republic.
The brand has entered the country with its G6 and G9 SUVs — for which the updated iterations have been recently introduced in Europe.
The new P7 debuted in Europe last week at the IAA Auto Show in Munich. However, the model was not confirmed as available for European markets in the near future.
At the German Auto Show, the brand also revealed that its best-selling, cheaper Mona series will be arriving in Europe in 2026, following the launch of the P7+ sedan.
In Hungary, Slovenia, and Croatia, it remains uncertain which models will be included in XPeng‘s lineup, as the local websites are not yet live.
However, it is likely to be the G6 and G9, as these models have been used to introduce the brand to European markets in recent months. Additionally, both SUVs were showcased at the launch event.
Earlier on Friday, XPeng has announced that its overseas more than doubled year over year from January through August, to 24,702 vehicles.
The brand aims to expand its presence from 30 to 60 markets.
In Europe, the brand was present in just seven markets a year ago — Norway, Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg.
In the past twelve months, the company expanded to several markets including France, Portugal, Spain, the UK, Ireland, Iceland, among others, which led registrations to nearly triple year over year in the continent.
Earlier this month, XPeng also opened its first European R&D center in Munich, as the IAA Auto Show took place in the city.
