XPeng is planning to launch its cheaper series — named MONA — in Europe and other international markets as soon as next year.
Mona M03, the debut model of the series, was launched in August 2024 in Guangzhou at the company’s 10th anniversary event.
Currently, it represents about half of XPeng‘s total deliveries in China.
The hatchback coupe is the brand’s cheapest model with prices starting between 119,800 yuan and 155,800 yuan.
Speaking with CNBC at the media day of Munich’s Auto Show, the founder and CEO He Xiaopeng also confirmed that the series will expand its lineup after the debut Mona M03 launched a year ago.
“In 2026 you can expect a variety of Mona products launched into the Chinese and European markets, as well as in rest of the world,” the chief executive officer told said on Monday.
“I believe by then, what we launch will be very proven and very excellent vehicles,” He Xiaopeng added.
Earlier this Monday, the company announced it is opening this week a new R&D Center in Munich, Germany — becoming its 9th worldwide.
Speaking at the press conference on early Monday, He Xiaopeng reiterated that building vehicles in Europe is part of the strategy as the carmaker eyes counteracting the duties imposed late last year by Brussels on Chinese-made electric cars.
Last month, XPeng launched the new P7 in its domestic market.
The model made its European debut at the Munich show this Monday with the MPV X9, the SUV G9, and the sedan P7+ also being showcased at the brand’s booth.
For September, the company is aiming to over 40,000 vehicles delivered which would mark a new record for the Guangzhou based carmaker for the second consecutive month.
