Chinese carmaker XPeng said Friday it is expanding into Austria in October as part of plans to double the number of markets it serves by 2025 to 60 from 30.
The company also revealed its P7+ sedan, unveiled last year in China, will begin sales in Switzerland in the first half of 2026, with other European markets expected to follow.
The model made its European debut at the Paris Auto Show in October 2024, while the recently launched P7 was shown earlier this month at the IAA Auto Show in Munich.
XPeng unveiled the P7+ sedan in China in November 2024, calling it the world’s first “AI-defined vehicle.”
The model integrates large AI systems into both driving and cockpit functions, including the company’s in-house XOS 5.4 platform and features the brand’s X-GPT model for natural voice interaction, a Qualcomm 8295P cockpit chip, and an efficiency rating of 10 km per kWh.
At the German event, XPeng also said its lower-priced Mona series will arrive in Europe in 2026 after the P7+ launch.
XPeng officially launched in Switzerland earlier this month through the local distributor ‘Hedin Mobility Group,’ which also represents the brand in Slovakia and Czech Republic.
The two companies plan to start with Hedin’s retail outlet in Dietlikon, with 8 to 10 stores nationwide by the end of 2025 and a further 10 to 20 by 2026.
Hedin’s seven existing outlets will be upgraded into XPeng sales and service centers, according to the carmaker.
In Austria, XPeng will adopt the authorized dealer model it already uses in Germany. Initial outlets will be in Vienna, Salzburg, Graz and Klagenfurt, with the network expected to grow to 10 by the end of 2025 and 20 in 2026.
The announcement comes a week after a launch event in Budapest, which marked XPeng’s official expansion into Hungary, Croatia and Slovenia.
The Guangzhou-based automaker, founded and led by He Xiaopeng, also said its European push comes days after it rolled off the first cars built for the region at Magna International Inc.’s factory in Graz, Austria.
XPeng said its sales and service network now covers more than 46 countries and regions worldwide.
Last week, XPeng has announced that its overseas sales more than doubled year over year from January through August, to 24,702 vehicles.
