After having secured 10,000 orders in the first 52 minutes, China’s electric vehicle brand XPeng announced late Thursday it reached a total of 30,000 since the launch event on held in Beijing last Tuesday evening.
The founder and chief executive, He Xiaopeng, delivered the first units of the brand’s cheapest model ever at the first day of the Chengdu Auto Show.
The model starts at 119,800 yuan ($16,812) while the “Max” variant is priced at 155,800 yuan, equivalent to $21,869.

The current waiting time for the Mona M03, which starts at $16,800, is between three and five weeks as XPeng ramps up production. A video shared on Thursday showed that the Guangzhou-manufacturer has produced thousands of units to guarantee a short delivery time.
Never Miss an Update on XPeng
He Xiaopeng recently stated that the model won’t face the same production capacity issues that occurred with XPeng’s smaller SUV, the G6, which caused a loss of orders.
The first model, the M03, is a fully electric coupe targeting a younger audience and marks the first model of a total of ten that will be presented over the next 24 months, as said by XPeng’s President Brian Gu in a media roundtable held earlier this week.
With a drag coefficient of 0.194, the model has now the lowest of its class, as claimed by Mona’s Product expert Luci at the event.
The M03 comes with two electric motor options, delivering maximum power outputs of 140 kW and 160 kW with the range reaching 515 km and 620 kilometers, respectively.
