Guangzhou-based electric vehicle (EV) maker XPeng saw its weekly vehicle registrations climb 27% week-over-week to 9,400 units, nearing the brand’s all-time high achieved in late 2024.
The surge was mainly driven by its cheapest model, the Mona M03, which reached a new weekly sales record by crossing 5,000 units for the first time. The sedan accounted for 5,110 of the total units registered, while the company’s flagship sedan P7+ contributed 2,530 registrations.

The carmaker prepares to launch its new SUV, the G7, later this year. XPeng is positioning the model to directly compete with Tesla’s refreshed Model Y in the second half of the year.
The premium EV brand Zeekr registered 3,600 vehicles, marking a 29% week-over-week increase, while Nio recorded 2,800 registrations, representing an 87% weekly surge.
January’s car sales are expected to decline from December’s high levels, reflecting a seasonal slowdown following year-end sales promotions and reduced production during the eight-day Spring Festival holiday in China, scheduled from January 28 to February 4.
In 2024, the company delivered 190,068 vehicles, a 34% increase from the prior year. December figures jumped 82% year over year to 36,695 vehicles.
XPeng’s Head of Autonomous Driving, Li Liyun, has recently tested the latest version of Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) software. The executive said Tesla’s system is designed to perform on more structured and less crowded U.S. roads while XPeng’s software is better on China’s roads.
The company has recently reached 10,000 deliveries in Europe, becoming the first Chinese EV startup to reach the milestone.
