XPeng Registers Best Sales Week of Q3 in China With 9,200 Vehicles

XPeng saw its sales last week rise 13.2% sequentially from the 8,130 units registered in the second week of September as the brand prepares to launch its first ever hybrid models.

According to registration data shared on Chinese social media this Tuesday, the Guangzhou-based automaker reached its highest sales figures since the last week of July, when it had listed 9,070 vehicles.

It also marks the best week of the third quarter for the carmaker.

Last week, XPeng remained the seventh best-selling new energy vehicle (NEV) brand in China.

It follows Huawei-backed Aito, with 10,200 vehicles, Xiaomi, which sold 10,800 units, and StellantisLeapmotor, recording 12,900 units.

BYD leads sales in the country, with 70,700 vehicles registered from September 15 to 21. The second and third-ranked companies last week were Geely Galaxy and Tesla, with 28,700 and 17,300 vehicles respectively.

XPeng recently launched the new P7 sedan, and is now on track to debut its first ever hybrid-powered vehicles — the range-extended version of the X9 multi-purpose van (MPV) and a hybrid version of the G7 SUV.

According to registration data, the company sold 1,800 P7s and 1,400 P7+s from September 15 to 21. XPeng also registered 1,000 G6s — its best-selling SUV last week.

Last week, XPeng announced its first European vehicles have rolled off the production line in Austria, in collaboration with Magna Steyr — shortly after it unveiled its first R&D center in Europe, located in Munich.

To speed up the local production — and instead of building its own EV plant in Europe — XPeng is partnering with the car supplier and manufacturer Magna via its Austrian subsidiary Magna Steyr.

The brand also held a regional launch event in Budapest, which marked the brand’s official expansion to Hungary, Croatia and Slovenia. It is now present in 49 countries worldwide.

XPeng‘s new P7 and P7+ sedans will “soon” debut in the continent, following the refreshed versions of the G6 and G9 SUVs.

The more affordable Mona series — its best-selling in China — will be arriving in Europe next year, according to the company.

XPeng announced last week that its Mona lineup will use batteries from two different suppliers — the base models will be equipped with Eve Energy batteries, while the long-range models will continue using BYD batteries.

The strategy is designed to cut costs and reduce the company’s dependence on a single supplier.
