Swedish EV manufacturer Polestar will expand to Italy opening the first showroom in the country amid the global expansion to a total of 30 markets by the end of 2023. The Space — as the showrooms are known — will be located in downtown Milan and the second one will inaugurate in Rome in early 2023.

As EV initially reported in April, the company started hiring in Italy in early April for several positions including a Head of Sales, Head of Marketing, Head of Customer Service Business Development Manager, and a Head of PR & Communications.

Commenting the decision to expand for the country to a local media, Alexander Lutz (Polestar Italy Manager) enhanced the passion that Italians have for cars saying, “I couldn’t wait to go back. No one has the passion for cars that you have, a right combination of head and heart that fits perfectly with our DNA, which combines premium, design and high performance.” That is why Italy is our strategic market.”

“We will have two permanent outlets, which we call ‘Space,’ in downtown Milan and Rome, run by Volvo dealers, where customers will be able to touch the brand and test drive the cars. But there will also be ‘test drive hubs,’ traveling contact points that we will open for two or three months in the cities where we see that there are more customers, like Florence, Padua, Verona, and where test drives can be booked online,” Lutz added.

Earlier this month, the EV maker opened its first showroom in Spain located at Paseo de Gracia, 84 in Barcelona and the inauguration counted with the presence of Stephane Le Guevel, the Managing Director of Polestar Iberia.

In late May, Polestar opened its first showroom in Dubai located at Mall of Emirates, an iconic shopping center with a total of 560 luxurious boutiques. During the last weeks, the EV maker has been expanding at a high pace confirming the entrance to Portugal, Spain, Dubai, and upcoming Italy.

Last week, the company announced a collaboration agreement with Arval in Spain for leasing services. Arval, part of the BNP Paribas Group, will become Polestar’s global leasing service provider in Spain after arriving in the country in 1996. As of June 2022, the company has currently more than 200,000 vehicles on the road and is the leading national operator.

Earlier in the week, Polestar was awarded two prestigious awards in Marie Claire UK’s annual Sustainability Awards. Polestar Roadster model won Best Sustainable Interior and Polestar 0 Project the Best Green Emission Initiative award.

On July 12, the EV maker has been granted a new patent regarding its upcoming hard-top convertible Polestar O₂. The patent includes eight drawings of the new design claiming the ornamental design of the steering wheel projected to be used on the upcoming roadster Polestar O₂.

The company is getting ready to expand its retail network in China with the opening of three new showrooms — Polestar Spaces, as they are known — until the end of July. The minimalist stores will be named Polestar Shanghai Darongcheng, Polestar Beijing Jinyuan Xinyansha, and Polestar Hainan Space.
