Lucid‘s long-promised UX 3.0 software for the Air sedan has appeared on a company service loaner as version 2.11.0, with in-car release notes showing the update removes the car’s Face Login feature.
“With this release, Face Login will no longer be available,” the notes say. “You can still switch profiles manually and authenticate your drive using your PIN.”
An owner posted photos of the update prompt, the full release notes and the new interface on the Lucid Owners forum late on Monday, US time, saying the car was a 2025 Air Touring loaned to him by Lucid’s service department.
“Software Update Available,” the prompt reads, listing “Version: 2.11.0” with an estimated installation time of 45 minutes.
The release notes are headed “What’s new in version 2.11.0” and describe the update as “Air UX 3.0, a completely reimagined infotainment experience for your Lucid Air inspired by the award-winning user experience of Lucid Gravity.”
The same summary text appeared last week in a photo posted in a Facebook owners’ group, which showed no version number or date, suggesting the update was close.
Lucid has not announced the update, and there is no sign yet that it has reached customer-owned cars.
The Start of the Rollout
The enthusiast site ‘LucidTracker’, which follows 163 Airs whose owners enrol them in an automatic sync, listed no rollout of version 2.11.0 on its software deployment page as of early Tuesday Eastern time.
The page showed 133 of those vehicles, or 81.6%, on the previous version, 2.10.0, released in July.
‘LucidTracker”s account on X nevertheless wrote on Tuesday that “Looks like #LucidAir OTA 2.11.0 (Air UX 3.0) is starting to roll out,” linking to the forum thread.
Owners on the forum questioned whether a loaner might receive builds meant for Lucid’s own fleet before customers do, which cannot be confirmed.
Face Login Out, Longer PINs In
The release notes add that “the next time you update your current 5-digit PIN, you will be asked to create a new one with 6 digits instead.”
Some preferences, “including Lucid Assistant, Mirror Tilting While Reversing, and Automatic Time Zone Updates,” may reset to their defaults and “will be enabled again,” and some owners may need to re-pair their phones for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The notes do not say why Face Login is being dropped.
What Changes
The update adds a Quick Controls menu that opens with a swipe down from the top of the lower Pilot Panel, and swipeable cards on the Home screen of the Right Cockpit Panel for media, car controls, calls and navigation.
Owners can control audio while adjusting a route and reach vehicle controls during a call, which the notes credit to “Air UX 3.0’s unified architecture.”
Navigation gets “a completely revamped dual-screen experience” with Favorites and Auto Dark Mode, as well as routing preferences that can favour a charging network, include or exclude stations that need charging adapters and set a minimum range on arrival.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto “now completely fill the Right Cockpit Panel.”
Driver profiles switch faster, and leaving the Guest profile now requires a PIN.
The notes also let the Primary profile manage keys linked to other profiles and make the Guest profile easier to reset.
Easy Entry & Exit now moves the driver’s seat relative to its saved position, and Flatbed Transport Mode can be switched on from the Pilot Panel.
Version 2, Not 3
The version number keeps the Air on its 2.x software line, while the Gravity SUV, which launched on UX 3.0, is on version 3.6.
The Air has received two updates that ‘LucidTracker’ labels as feature releases since July 2025, alongside smaller maintenance releases such as 2.8.30 in March and 2.10.0 in July.
These were 2.8.0 on July 30, 2025, and 2.9.0, which began rolling out in late April.
The Gravity received four releases with that label in the same period, from 3.3.1 in September 2025 to 3.6.0 in June.
The loaner’s prompt came 12 weeks after the Air’s last update, 2.10.0 on July 6, which added location-sharing controls and a service alert for drive unit conditions that could lead to “potential loss of drive power.”
‘Early Fall’ Target
Lucid told YouTuber Jason Fenske of Engineering Explained in January that UX 3.0 for the Air was planned for early fall.
“Our team is concentrating resources on releasing UX 3.0 for Lucid Air later this summer, with an emphasis on delivering a meaningful, high-quality update rather than incremental changes,” Lucid’s Communications chief Nick Twork wrote on X on March 11.
Airs bought or leased before April 2024 need a $950 processor upgrade to run UX 3.0, the company has said. The loaner is a 2025 model and is already equipped with the newer hardware.
