A photo of in-car release notes for Lucid‘s long-promised Air UX 3.0 software surfaced in an owners’ group on Facebook, suggesting the overhaul for the Air sedan is close to reaching customers.
“In this update, we’re releasing Air UX 3.0, a completely reimagined infotainment experience for your Lucid Air inspired by the award-winning user experience of Lucid Gravity,” the release summary reads.
“Enjoy a more intuitive UX, more responsive displays, faster performance, seamless multitasking, and deeper integration with your driving life. It also includes a host of enhancements for Navigation, Media, Profiles, and more.”
A member of the Lucid Owners Club group posted the photo with the caption “Long awaited! Coming to your air soon :)”.
Third-party app ‘LucidTracker’ reshared the post on X early on Thursday, writing “Some #LucidLove is coming to #LucidAir soon!”
The photo shows a screen headed “What’s new in this version”, with links to a release summary and release details, and an image of an Air dashboard displaying a navigation map.
It does not show a software version number or a release date.
The poster did not say how the notes reached the vehicle, and it is not clear whether the car is a customer, employee or preview vehicle.
Lucid has not announced a release date for Air UX 3.0 as of press time.
Gravity’s Software Comes to the Sedan
UX 3.0 is the operating system Lucid introduced with the Gravity SUV.
“It’s all powered by Lucid UX 3.0, a new operating system that offers an intuitive, clear, and customizable interface for drivers and passengers alike,” Lucid said when it launched the 2026 Gravity Grand Touring in April 2025.
The Gravity has since moved to UX 3.6, which added hands-free driving on compatible highways and Google Places data in navigation in June.
The Air has stayed on its 2.x software line.
Version 2.9.0, released in late April, was the Air’s first feature update in nine months.
Air owners will get the Gravity’s software but not its cockpit hardware, which includes a 34-inch curved display, a new steering wheel and an optional augmented-reality head-up display.
‘Early Fall’
Lucid first put a timeline on Air UX 3.0 in January, after YouTuber Jason Fenske of Engineering Explained posted a critical review of his Air.
The company then gave him a preview of its software plans, with UX 3.0 for the Air planned for early fall 2026.
“It’s fair to say we’re not happy with where we’ve been and we know we have to do better as well,” Lucid told him.
The features shown to Fenske included multitasking across both screens, a quick-controls menu, more consistent CarPlay and Bluetooth connections, profile switching in eight seconds or less, fewer audio dropouts and better voice commands.
Emad Dlala, then Senior VP of Engineering and Digital, gave that briefing. He left Lucid in June.
Lucid listed “UX 3.0 in Lucid Air” among its 2026 software priorities in its Investor Day presentation in March.
Chief Executive Officer Silvio Napoli did not mention Air UX 3.0 on the company’s second-quarter earnings call on August 4.
“During the quarter, software quality improved across Gravity and Air, with work focused on infotainment stability, access control, and OTA reliability,” Napoli said.
$950 Upgrade
Not every Air will receive the update. The sedans purchased or leased after April 2024 have the second-generation Center Console Control unit needed to run UX 3.0.
Older Airs need a $950 hardware upgrade, which Lucid says doubles memory and storage and more than doubles computing power.
“The upgraded processor brings significantly more memory and compute. On first-gen hardware, some new features, including UX 3.0, won’t be supported without that upgrade,” Nick Twork, the VP of Communications, wrote on X on February 3. “Rather than leaving early customers behind, we’re offering a paid upgrade path. I’ve also confirmed with our team that customers will be able to use Lucid Rewards points toward the upgrade.”
Lucid first offered the upgrade to owners in July 2025.
