A new software version for the Lucid Air, 2.11.2, has appeared on an owner’s car, with in-car release notes saying it makes the sedan detect a driver’s phone key faster and helps all access devices work reliably.
The update has two items, according to the release notes posted on Reddit’s r/LUCID forum by owner u/ExemplaryOxygen. Lucid had not published the notes on its website, announced the release or posted about it on its X accounts as of Tuesday morning, so the scope and timing of the rollout could not be confirmed.
“Lucid Air now detects Mobile Key more quickly as drivers approach,” the notes say. “When Passive Entry is enabled, the doors unlock automatically and the driver profile is ready, even when the driver’s phone stays in their pocket or bag.”
The second item, “Access Control Optimizations,” reads: “Optimized vehicle software to help ensure all access devices work reliably.”

The App Comes First
The notes tie the car update to Lucid’s phone app. “For the best Mobile Key experience, make sure automatic app updates are enabled for the Lucid mobile app and that the Lucid mobile app is on the latest version (2.19.0),” they say.
Lucid released version 2.19.0 of the Lucid Motors app on Apple’s US App Store on October 28. Its listing says the update brings “Improved Mobile Key performance for faster, more reliable locking and unlocking experience,” along with bug fixes.
Mobile Key lets an Air owner use a smartphone in place of the key fob. With Passive Unlock and Passive Lock enabled, the car “scan[s] its surroundings for recognized access devices,” unlocking as the driver approaches and locking as they walk away, according to Lucid’s owner guide.
The First Fix for Air UX 3.0
Version 2.11.2 is the first point release on the 2.11 branch, which carries Air UX 3.0, the redesigned interface that Lucid began rolling out on September 29 as version 2.11.0.
That release added a Quick Controls menu, swipeable Home screen cards and a new dual-screen navigation system. It also changed how drivers authenticate. “With this release, Face Login will no longer be available,” its notes said, and drivers updating their PIN are asked to move from five digits to six.
UX 3.0 is free over the air for model-year 2025 and newer Airs. Model-year 2022, 2023 and some 2024 cars need a new infotainment processor first, which Lucid prices at $950 in the US including installation. Air UX 3.0 comes standard on the 2027 Air. Cars that have not had the processor upgrade remain on the 2.10 software branch, so they are not expected to receive 2.11.2.
The update reached owners in Germany and the United Arab Emirates within a week of its US launch.
Rollout Still Under Way
Community tracker ‘LucidTracker’ had not yet logged version 2.11.2 on Tuesday. Its data, which covers only owners who have enrolled their cars in its Auto-Sync feature, showed version 2.11.0 on 130 of 196 tracked Airs, or 66.3%, five weeks after release.
The rollout varies by trim. All three tracked Grand Touring Performance cars had 2.11.0, according to LucidTracker, as did 83% of Dream Editions, 78% of Pure models and 73% of Touring cars. The Grand Touring trailed at 51%, with 39 of 76 cars updated.
LucidTracker lists no 2.11.1 release, and its figures only cover a sample of the fleet.
Before 2.11.0, the Air’s last update was version 2.10.0 on July 6, according to the tracker.
A Recurring Complaint
Locking and unlocking have been a persistent source of owner complaints.
Several owners described Mobile Key problems after installing 2.11.0 in a Lucid Owners forum thread started on October 14. “No longer unlocks the vehicle upon pressing on the door handles,” wrote the user Ohmontheroad, who uses an Android phone. Another owner, socktucker, said the same problem had affected an iPhone for about six months.
Lucid has not said whether 2.11.2 addresses those reports. Earlier, in May, an owner on the Lucid Owners forum reported that an Air had locked with a toddler inside after Apple CarPlay disconnected, prompting other owners to describe lock and unlock problems after an earlier update.
Phone-based entry is also still missing on Lucid’s second model. The company pushed back Phone as a Key for the Gravity SUV to the first quarter of 2027, Manager of Customer Advocacy Marqie Carter told owners in October, after it missed the third-quarter target Lucid had given.
“The feature is now targeted for release in Q1 2027, allowing us the time needed to ensure it delivers the reliability and experience our customers expect,” Carter wrote.
The Gravity runs on a separate software line. ‘LucidTracker’ shows the SUV on version 3.6.6, released on October 21, its fifth update since the start of June.
