Lucid has begun offering Gravity owners its DreamDrive 2 Premium driver-assistance package as a paid over-the-air upgrade for $1,500, according to owners on the Lucid Owners forum who received the announcement by email this week.
For 2026 Gravity owners, the rollout opens a way to buy, after delivery, the same package Lucid made standard equipment on the 2027 model year.
What $1,500 Unlocks
The upgrade moves cars from DreamDrive 2 Standard to Premium through software alone.
Lucid‘s email spells that out — $1,500, no service appointment, no hardware installation — with the package pitched as delivering “more peace of mind.”
Four feature groups come with it, including 3D Surround View Monitoring shown on the Pilot Panel, Blind Spot Display, enhanced hands-on Drive Assist with Lane Change Assist and speed-based suggested lane changes.
Additionally, it improves Adaptive Lane Biasing, which repositions the Gravity within its lane to add space from higher-risk vehicles such as trucks.
Owners who completed the process reported the features working — a real-time 3D view on the parking screen, a transparent-view option and camera feeds triggered by the turn signals.
Premium is a pure feature unlock, while the top DreamDrive 2 Pro tier relies on additional hardware and is not offered as a post-delivery upgrade, as owners stated.
That mirrors Lucid‘s published guidance for the Air, whose documentation states that for the Pro tier “it is not possible to install the necessary hardware after delivery” — on the sedan, Pro adds forward-facing LiDAR among its sensors.
Pricing carries straight over from the configurator.
On 2026 Gravity orders, Premium cost $1,500 and Pro $6,750, meaning owners buying the unlock now pay exactly what they would have at purchase, with no late-adoption premium and no discount.
A Rocky First Day
Launch mechanics drew as much forum discussion as the upgrade itself.
A Colorado Gravity owner who started the thread reported that the purchase page returned “There has been an error with processing your request. Please try again.” — while charging his credit card anyway, then charging it a second time on a retry ten minutes later.
A representative confirmed the company knew of some payment-related issues with the system and was working on them.
Delivery of the software came about five hours after payment, labeled 3.6.0 — the same version number the car already ran, with no dedicated release — and installed in roughly ten minutes, after which the owner confirmed the features worked.
Heavy Discounting Month
The timing places a high-margin software product inside one of the most aggressive discounting months in Lucid‘s history.
Right now the company is clearing 2026 Gravity stock with zero-percent financing over 72 months and a $10,000 credit, terms that followed a quarter in which the SUV carried 68.0% of US volume while 2026-model-year units lingered.
Selling a $1,500 unlock to the same 2026 owner base turns hardware already built and paid for into revenue — income Lucid needs while it burns roughly $1 billion a quarter and restructures under new chief executive Silvio Napoli.
First-half results will be reported on August 4, after the US market closes.
