Polestar Joins Tesla, Rivian in Partnering With Agero for Driver Assistance

EV maker Polestar announced on Tuesday that it has partnered with Agero, a US-based driver assistance services provider, to be its exclusive roadside assistance provider in the North American market.

The Massachusetts-headquartered company offers specialized EV roadside assistance, via the in-car Polestar Connect button, the Polestar app, or by phone “leveraging knowledge from servicing 250,000 EV roadside incidents last year.”

Agero has partnered with several automakers, including US legacy automaker Ford — which has just renewed a 15+ year contract with the service provider. It also represents German-based BMW, Japanese brands Toyota and Lexus and, since 2017, Lamborghini.

Regarding pure electric vehicle makers, Tesla and Rivian had been the only brands included in its blueprint before Polestar.

Drivers can check the status of the service requests and live track trucks.

Agero also provides support for Polestar Connect, a suite of connected car services with emergency assistance and remote vehicle control, which enables location tracking and communication through a built-in modem and the GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System).

According to the brand, “through Polestar Connect integration, Agero’s automatic crash detection enables faster emergency response and vehicle retrieval.”

“We are deeply honored to work alongside Polestar as its exclusive roadside assistance provider,” said Jon Greene, Agero’s Vice President of Client Success.

“The EV market is a dynamic space that continues to grow, and we believe there is tremendous opportunity to unlock further innovation together,” Jon Greene, Agero’s VP of Client Success, said in a statement.

Polestar expanded sales to the United States in 2020, with the Polestar 2 sedan. Since then, the brand has launched two more models: the Polestar 3 and 4, both SUVs.

Last month, the Geely-backed brand sold 581 electric vehicles in the US, a 82.7% surge from a year ago, according to Motor Intelligence estimates.

Global figures for the second quarter reached 18,049 units, the company’s best quarterly sales result since late 2022.
