Polestar Cuts 2027 Polestar 4 Coupe A$4,600 in Australia to Match New SUV

Polestar has cut the price of the 2027 Polestar 4 coupe in Australia by A$4,600 ($3,300), bringing it level with the Polestar 4 SUV it revealed for the market last week.

Both body styles now start at A$73,900 ($53,300) for the rear-motor version and A$81,750 ($58,900) for the dual-motor before on-road costs.

The cut takes effect immediately and applies to the updated coupe that Polestar launched in Australia in June at unchanged 2026 prices, as first reported by The Drive.

Its rear-motor price falls from A$78,500 ($56,600), a reduction of A$4,600, and its dual-motor price falls by A$4,610 to A$81,750, which puts the outgoing dual-motor price at A$86,360.

The coupe with the Performance Pack now starts at A$95,450 ($68,800).

The SUV, revealed for Australia on September 2 and 3 with first deliveries due in the fourth quarter, had been priced A$4,600 below the coupe at launch.

Polestar has now moved the coupe down to meet it rather than leaving the newer, more practical body style as the cheaper car.

What the 2027 Coupe Is

The Australian 2027 coupe carries the update Polestar rolled out in Europe over the summer and announced for Canada on Wednesday: a recalibrated chassis with high-capacity passive dampers, new spring and anti-roll-bar settings and polyurethane rebound stops replacing internal rebound coil springs, which Polestar says gives a more controlled ride and “improved steering precision.”

The powertrains are unchanged, 200 kW on the rear axle or 400 kW with two motors.

The Options

The Australian statement also prices the option packs.

The Comfort pack, A$1,200, adds a heated steering wheel, a power-adjusted column and 12-way electric seats with a mechanical cushion extension. The Plus pack, A$6,500, adds the 1,320-watt Harman Kardon system, a head-up display, Pixel LED headlights with adaptive high beam, a hands-free tailgate and some Comfort items.

The Nappa upgrade, A$6,100 on top of Plus, adds Bridge of Weir leather, ventilated and massaging front seats, headrest speakers, rear comfort headrests and a brushed textile headlining.

The Performance pack, A$7,200 and available only on the dual-motor with Plus, adds 22-inch wheels, Polestar Engineered chassis tuning, Brembo brakes and Swedish gold accents.

Single options include a 22 kW AC charging kit at A$900, an electrochromic glass roof at A$2,200, an electric retractable towbar at A$4,070 and rear privacy glass at A$700.

The Price History

The Polestar 4 was priced for Australia in December 2023 at A$81,500 ($58,800) for the rear-motor and A$93,050 ($67,100) for the dual-motor, with deliveries from August 2024.

Polestar cut those prices by almost A$5,000 in 2024, to A$78,500 for the rear-motor, and held the 2026 model year at the reduced level.

Days before the coupe cut, Polestar Australia offered discounts of up to A$16,500 ($11,900) on pre-built 2026 rear-motor cars to clear stock ahead of the 2027 version.

The same update has now been priced three ways in three days. In Europe, the SUV launched on September 2 at €57,900 in Germany, €4,000 below the coupe.

Polestar, headquartered in Gothenburg and controlled by Geely Holding through founder Li Shufu’s investment vehicle, with Volvo Cars holding a minority stake, reported on September 3 a first-half retail record of 30,423 cars and a net loss of $842 million.

CEO Lohscheller cited the growing share of the Polestar 4 in the mix as a positive for margins.
