Fisker announced on Wednesday that has surpassed 50,000 reservations for its first model Fisker Ocean. The production of the SUV will start in Graz (Austria) on November 17, with the base Sport trim priced at $37,499 before incentives. The Extreme trim level is priced at $68,999 and delivers an estimated range of over 350 miles, the company added.
In addition, the EV maker said its second model Fisker PEAR has over 3,200 reservations, with production expected to begin in 2024 and prototype testing slated for late 2022. Fisker added that PEAR model will be “fully revealed in the second half of 2023 and enter production at a plant in 2024. With development well underway, prototype testing is expected to begin at the end of 2022”. Additional details will be unveiled by the company throughout 2022.
“The impressive number of reservations for the Fisker Ocean proves there’s huge interest in our brand and in electric vehicles,” CEO Henrik Fisker said. “The over 3,200 reservations already for the Fisker PEAR indicate this revolutionary mobility device, designed for city dwellers, demonstrates customers are ready for Fisker to deliver the 21st century’s most innovative vehicle. The Fisker PEAR’s cool new features and technologies – and affordable pricing below $29,900 – are designed specifically for the customer of the future.”
“The Fisker PEAR is a sporty crossover, smaller than the Fisker Ocean SUV. The Fisker PEAR will have the first-ever Fisker Houdini trunk, an alternative to traditional rear cargo hatches. Intended for a metropolitan lifestyle, Fisker PEAR ‘s interior will offer a new level of storage for its segment”, Fisker said.
Design-wise, the beltline and side window area are extremely low, with a large, wraparound windscreen affording a commanding view when driving. The Fisker PEAR will be available in rear-wheel-drive (single motor) and all-wheel-drive (dual motor) configurations featuring four levels of option packages.
The Fisker PEAR offers two battery packs, with the larger Hyper Range pack targeted at over 310 miles and like the Fisker Ocean, will feature the Fisker SolarSky panoramic roof, adding emissions-free range to the battery.
Earlier today, Henrik Fisker posted on Instagram the first image of PEAR’s interior. The first deliveries of the model built at Foxconn factory are scheduled for early 2024 with the company expecting to sell a million units of the model in 2027.
On the description, Fisker CEO wrote: “Fisker PEAR ‘s interior will offer a new level of storage for its segment. Design-wise, the beltline and side window area are extremely low, with a large, wraparound windscreen affording a commanding view when driving”.
In late May, the CEO said that the company expects to show a PEAR prototype earlier than originally stated: “EV below $29,900 & Revolutionary! We are current working full speed on re defining how to make an inexpensive car. Reducing parts, make them simpler. Adding technology & unique features to replace tradition! I expect, we will show a PEAR prototype earlier than I originally stated,” Henrik said via Instagram.
Last week, Fisker’s senior recruiter Larry Sherwood said on LinkedIn that the company is open to receive Tesla and SpaceX employees that exited Tesla after Musk’s warning about the end of the remote work.
“Hey Tesla and SpaceX employees, we have many remote work positions available at Fisker Inc. For our on-site roles, we are currently on a hybrid schedule of 1 to 2 days in office. Find your next career opportunity here: https://lnkd.in/gffGDeMi, the started to say”
