Chinese automaker XPeng has sold over 200 monthly units in both Germany and the UK last month, official registration data from both countries showed on Monday.
In the UK, where it entered earlier this year, with the right-hand drive G6 SUV, the company has reached a new monthly sales record in September, with 281 vehicles.
Registration figures fluctuate due to logistics scheduling, as most of the vehicles are built in Guangzhou, China.
Last month, XPeng announced that it has started producing EVs in Austria, in a partnership with Magna Steyer.
However, it remains unclear whether the company is producing (or will produce) right-hand drive models, supplying the UK.
Registration figures in the UK so far show that the last month of the quarter is the best month for the automaker.
Before September, June was the only month in which the company sold over 100 vehicles in the UK in the past seven months.
In Germany, where XPeng entered a year and a half ago, the brand sold 241 vehicles, a 14.8% drop from the 283 vehicles sold in August.
However, as the company had registered only 33 units in September 2024, sales saw a sevenfold increase year over year.
It is also the third best sales month for the company, since it entered Germany in March 2024.
In Europe’s largest auto market, the Chinese brand sells both its G6 and G9 SUVs and the P7 sedan.
The company has refreshed both SUVs in China earlier this year, and in July opened orders for the new iterations across several European markets — including Germany.Last month, XPeng became the latest Chinese automaker to establish an European R&D center in Germany.
The new R&D center in Munich became the Guangzhou-based company’s ninth global R&D hub, according to the brand, after Sillicon Valley and San Diego, in the United States.
In the Netherlands, contradicting the growth felt overall in Europe, XPeng sales fell 31.8% year over year to 88 vehicles, despite the slight increase from 52 units in August.
In Sweden, registrations doubled month over month to 91 vehicles — just two units above the same period a year ago.
Registrations reached 219 units in the Norwegian market, slightly below 228 units in August and 301 in September 2024.
The company is further expanding its presence in the European continent, having expanded to over 20 markets.
The Guangzhou-based brand aims to reach 60 overseas markets in 2025. As of the end of September, it was already in 50 countries worldwide.
