The Chinese electric vehicle maker XPeng is a couple months away from launching its new G9 model. The SUV was seen on Wednesday under spy mode in China two weeks after being spotted in Portugal. G9 model will have a starting price lower than Tesla’s Model Y and Nissan Ariya, and Ford Mustang Mach-E as the main competitors.

In March, XPeng‘s Co-founder and President, said that the G9 is the company’s first model developed with international markets in mind right from the scratch. During Q4 2021, the CEO said: “Next EV model in line for us is our flagship SUV model, the G9. Its PT production vehicle has successfully rolled off the production line, and we are on track to officially launch the G9 in the third quarter. The G9 represents the most advanced technology XPeng has ever developed building on years of in-house developed software and core hardware.
Consequently, the performance of our G9 is head and shoulders above popular SUV models in the same category. I firmly believe that G9 will become a blockbuster model in the medium- to large-sized smart electric SUV market — he added.

The company announced on May 1 that delivered 9,002 Smart EVs in April 2022, representing a 75% increase year-over-year. According to the company, the February deliveries consisted of 3,714 P7 smart sports sedans, 3,564 P5 smart family sedans, as well as 1,724 G3i and G3 smart compact SUVs.
Recently, XPeng Motors held press runs with the recently arrived XPeng P5 model in Sweden. The model has a starting price of 550,000 SEK ($55,800 USD), as announced by the company on March 21, and can be configured here. XPENG P5 will be available in Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden.
