Momenta will develop advanced driver-assistance systems for new Peugeot and Jeep models built by a Stellantis-Dongfeng venture in Wuhan, adding two global mass-market brands to a client base long anchored by German premium carmakers.
Momenta disclosed the global strategic partnership with Dongfeng Stellantis Automotive Technology (Wuhan) Co Ltd, also known as DSAT, on Monday.
Systems developed under the deal will run on Momenta’s R7 world model and ship in vehicles sold in China, Europe and other global markets.
New models under the partnership are due from 2027, with fully electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains.
Momenta said in a statement the technology would support the global smart-mobility push of Stellantis’ mainstream brands.
Brand-Specific Tuning
Peugeot and Jeep will work with Momenta on product definition and joint development, with driver assistance tailored to each brand, according to Momenta.
The teams will draw on vehicle engineering and chassis-tuning expertise to refine steering, braking and powertrain response, calibrating Jeep models for off-roading and Peugeot models for the brand’s handling, the company said.
The two sides will also jointly develop wheel-level brake control that sets brake pressure at each of the four wheels independently, to keep automatic emergency braking stable on ice, tighten turning circles and improve parking accuracy, according to the joint statement.
Several all-new models from the Wuhan venture will carry Momenta’s world model, with continuous updates, the statement said.
The partnership also covers mass-production driver assistance and the development and deployment of autonomous driving technologies up to Level 3.
“Shenlong Technology’s global strategic partnership with Momenta fuses Peugeot’s handling and Jeep’s off-roading with leading intelligent technology, landing in China and going overseas,” Lv said, according to 21st Century Business Herald, using the venture’s Chinese short name.
“Intelligence should not make brands lose their own character,” Cao said, according to the joint statement.
The deal starts the “zero to one” of intelligent driving for Peugeot and Jeep and marks a “zero to one” leap for “in China, for the world,” Cao said.
He added that Momenta expects an inflection point in the global advanced driver-assistance market in 2028, after China’s in 2024, and aims to be “at least half a step” ahead of it.
Four Models From Wuhan
DSAT opened on August 20 in the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone, Gasgoo reported, citing Dongfeng Motor.
Six investors back the company with registered capital of about 8.2 billion yuan ($1.2 billion).
Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën Automobile (DPCA) holds about 24.1%, while Dongfeng Motor and Stellantis hold 13.5% each.
Wuhan Financial Holdings (Group) and the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone Industrial Investment Group hold 19.5% each, and Changjiang Industry Group 9.8%.
The venture’s initial roadmap covers four new battery-electric and plug-in hybrid models due from 2027, according to Gasgoo.
“Shenlong Technology will serve as a dedicated platform to support the development and global sales of new Jeep and Peugeot models,” Stellantis Chief Executive Officer Antonio Filosa said.
Stellantis and Dongfeng laid the groundwork in May, when they signed a strategic cooperation agreement to build two all-new Peugeot new energy vehicles and two Jeep off-road models at DPCA’s Wuhan plant from 2027.
Peugeot models will target China and export markets, while Jeep models are intended for global distribution, according to Stellantis’s May 15 statement.
Stellantis put the combined investment at over 8 billion yuan ($1.2 billion), with its own contribution expected at approximately €130 million ($148 million).
DPCA, founded in 1992, was one of the earliest Sino-foreign automotive joint ventures.
Its relevance in China has eroded over the past decade as domestic competitors reshaped the market.
Since inception, DPCA has sold more than 6.5 million Peugeot and Citroën vehicles.
Days after the Wuhan agreement, Stellantis and Dongfeng signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding for a Stellantis-led, 51/49 Europe-based joint venture to sell Dongfeng’s Voyah-branded premium new energy vehicles.
Beyond German Premium
Monday’s deal extends Momenta’s reach beyond its mainstay customers of German premium automakers, Reuters reported.
Mercedes-Benz has invested in Momenta since 2017.
Momenta supplies the China version of Mercedes’ MB.DRIVE ASSIST PRO point-to-point system, available since late 2025, and the two companies are developing a Level 4 S-Class robotaxi for operator Lumo in Abu Dhabi.
Mercedes last week added British start-up Wayve as its third automated-driving software partner, alongside Nvidia and Momenta.
Stellantis also works with Wayve.
In May, the carmaker agreed to integrate the Wayve AI Driver into its STLA AutoDrive platform, targeting hands-free driving in North America in 2028.
Momenta has also drawn talent from Chinese carmakers.
In October 2025, Nio’s head of intelligent driving product and experience, Harry Wong, resigned to join Momenta.
Installations Top 1 Million
Momenta, which listed in Hong Kong on July 8, added about 321,000 vehicles with its solutions in the first half of 2026, up about 84% from a year earlier, according to its earnings call on August 31.
Cumulative installations exceeded 1 million by the end of June, and its solutions covered 26 automakers.
Reuters reported on Monday that Momenta’s driver-assistance software has been used on the road in more than 1.2 million vehicles.
Cars with Momenta’s systems are on the road in 10 countries and regions, including Norway, Britain, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore and Australia, according to the call.
Momenta’s first-half revenue rose 76% to 1.6 billion yuan ($238 million).
Momenta is developing its world model as a shared technology foundation for its production vehicle, robovan and robotaxi businesses.
