Rivian has added colour-specific delivery estimates to its support page on R2 order invitations, quoting up to 12 weeks for its three newest options, against four to eight weeks for other orders.
A new table on the page, headed “Color or Interior” and “Delivery Timeline,” lists four options.
Borealis paint, Forest Green paint and the Coastal Cloud Signature interior each carry an estimate of eight to 12 weeks (two to three months) from order confirmation. Esker Silver paint carries six to 10 weeks.
The rest of the page is unchanged apart from its opening line. The previous version said: “Starting June 9, 2026 we’ll begin sending batches of order invitations to US-based R2 reservation holders.” The new version reads: “On June 9, 2026, we began sending batches.”
The page still says customers “can expect to take delivery in 4-8 weeks” once an order is confirmed.
The new version was first spotted by Rivian owner and content creator Chris Hilbert, who posted it on X on Tuesday.
The Free Colour
Esker Silver is the only R2 exterior colour offered at no extra cost. Its new estimate of six to 10 weeks is two weeks longer at each end than the page’s general window.
The table does not list the other five exterior colours, Glacier White, Half Moon Grey, Catalina Cove, Midnight and Launch Green, or the standard Black Crater interior.
Three Newest Options
The three options quoted at eight to 12 weeks are the last additions to the R2 configurator.
Rivian emailed selected early reservation holders on August 18 and 19 with early access to Forest Green and Coastal Cloud, quoting the same eight to 12 weeks. Both became available to all buyers on September 9.
Borealis, a $2,000 purple, opened to selected early reservation holders on September 15. Rivian said in a story on its website on Tuesday that it is now available to order on the R2.
When Rivian detailed the Launch Edition palette in April, it did not expect to offer Borealis on the R2 until 2027.
Every R2 on sale is the Performance trim with the Launch Package, from $57,990.
Longer Than Rivian First Said
Rivian’s delivery estimates have lengthened since the R2 went on sale.
In its launch post on May 27, the company told buyers they could “plan to take delivery within 2–6 weeks” of confirming an order.
By the end of June, when Rivian gave reservation holders their order windows, its emails quoted four to eight weeks “for most configurations.” The support page now carries that figure.
The new colour estimates extend that window again for the options with the most recent early-access programmes.
Priority Rules Unchanged
The rules for who is invited first are the same. Rivian says the “primary factors” are the reservation timestamp and delivery location, with areas around its service and demo centres invited sooner.
Current R1 owners get “accelerated delivery timing, balanced alongside deliveries to non-owners,” and holders can enter details of an expiring lease in their Rivian Account. Some reservation holders are also invited early at random.
Behind the Ramp
The longer estimates come as Rivian scales R2 output at its plant in Normal, Illinois.
Community-tracked R2 VIN assignments have passed 12,100 ahead of Rivian’s third-quarter delivery report.
Founder and Chief Executive Officer RJ Scaringe said last week that the R2 ramp is gated by Tier 2 and Tier 3 suppliers rather than by the plant.
Rivian has guided to 20,000 to 25,000 R2 deliveries this year, within 65,000 to 70,000 vehicles overall.
