Rivian has extended the full slate of May incentives across its R1S and R1T lineup through June 4 — pushing the discount package a step further as the Irvine, California-based EV maker prepares to begin customer deliveries of the more affordable R2 mid-size SUV next month.
The offers page, updated this week, carries a “Valid until Jun 4” stamp across every active program — including the headline $799-per-month lease on the R1 Dual Standard, which will be discontinued soon as the R2 approaches.
Rivian is also offering a $3,000 lease bonus on the same trim, a separate $3,000 lease bonus on the R1 Dual with Performance Upgrade and Max battery, and the 1.99% APR financing on select 2026 R1 Dual Performance and Tri configurations over a 60-month term.
The Irvine-based EV maker typically updates monthly incentive programs at the beginning of each month.
The decision to carry the May cuts into June — while layering an additional $500-off order bonus and the existing Stealth Package ($2,200) and Road Trip Package ($2,500) accessory savings — points to a continued effort to defend retail volumes ahead of the R2 launch.
Leasing Prices
The May incentive package marked the broadest set of Rivian lease price reductions since the launch of the second-generation R1 lineup in June 2024.
The R1S Standard and R1T Standard each fell to $799 per month from $899, an 11.1% reduction on the entry trim.
Dual-Motor configurations were cut by roughly 5.5%, with the R1S Dual moving to $1,029 from $1,089 and the R1T Dual to $1,019 from $1,079.
The Tri-Motor variants received the largest dollar cuts — $120 per month off the R1S Tri (to $1,429) and $100 per month off the R1T Tri (to $1,399) — while Quad-Motor configurations were trimmed by $60 and $50 respectively on the R1S Quad ($1,929) and R1T Quad ($1,899).
A separate “Memorial Day Sales Event” line on the offers page applies a $500 discount on any order placed between May 21 and June 3, stackable on top of the lease and APR programs.
Demand Pressure
The breadth of the extended incentive package reflects a push for Rivian‘s flagship lineup’s demand.
The company delivered 10,365 vehicles globally in the first quarter of 2026, a 20.0% increase from the same period of 2025.
Sales were, however, driven by the commercial van mix rather than the R1 lineup.
Cox Automotive data showed that US sales of the EDV more than doubled in the first quarter to 3,213 units, leaving an estimated 4,500 to 6,500 R1 deliveries in the three first months of the year.
Motor Intelligence estimates pegged total Rivian US sales at 8,141 units in the first quarter, a 26.5% decline from the 11,070 units registered in the same period of 2025.
In California, registrations fell 35.9% year-over-year to 1,841 units in the first quarter, the largest decline of any of the state’s top 30 selling brands.
Guidance Implies a Sharp Back-Half Ramp
Rivian reaffirmed its full-year delivery guidance of 62,000 to 67,000 vehicles at the end of April, with CFO Claire McDonough guiding for total deliveries of approximately 9,000 to 11,000 per quarter in the first half of 2026.
With 10,365 vehicles delivered in the first quarter and a guide of 9,000 to 11,000 units for the second, the company would close the first half at roughly 19,365 to 21,365 units — implying that 41,635 to 47,635 deliveries are needed in the second half to meet the guidance range.
That equates to an average of 20,800 to 23,800 vehicles per quarter in Q3 and Q4, roughly double the Q1 rate.
McDonough has framed the R1 and commercial van lines together as running “roughly in line with our 2025 total volumes”, hinting that the back-half growth depends on R2 ramp rather than recovery in the R1 line.
The full-year guidance includes a target of 20,000 to 25,000 R2 deliveries in 2026, with 5,000 of those expected in California alone.
R2 Deliveries Begin Next Month
Rivian has not provided a specific date for the start of R2 external deliveries; however, it has reaffirmed earlier this week that deliveries begin “next month.”
The company began volume, saleable production of the R2 on April 22 at its Normal, Illinois, plant, with the first units going to employees.
Additionally, the R2 public configurator opened earlier this month, with only the R2 Performance Launch Edition available at $57,990.
The R2 Premium trim is scheduled to follow later in 2026 at $53,990, and the $45,000 Standard variant is expected in late 2027.
Rivian is offering a R2 Priority Delivery Offer that places existing R1 owners and lessees at the front of the queue, an explicit attempt to convert the current R1 base ahead of broader customer rollout.
The R2 carries a bill of materials roughly 50% lower than the R1, and is expected to contribute to the company’s path towards profitability, as previously stated by founder and CEO RJ Scaringe.
