Onvo Unveils Service Plan Integrated with Nio’s Network Across China

As Nio prepares for the official launch of its sub-brand Onvo in late September, the company has published in the Chinese app a Q&A to address questions from customers who have pre-ordered the new model.

The first deliveries will begin one week after the launch, according to the brand’s president Alan Ai.

Onvo’s Q&A session covered a range of topics, including the integration of services with Nio, the number of service centers across the country, and the after-sales resources.

“Nio’s distinctive one-click maintenance, door-to-door tire repair, and vehicle pickup and delivery services will also serve Onvo users. The Onvo service package is more lightweight compared to Nio’s service package,” the company explained.

Details regarding the pricing and policies for Onvo’s service package will be announced at the launch event. The company stated, “Policies and pricing will be announced in September, along with detailed explanations of the benefits and usage instructions. Onvo’s services are fully integrated into Nio’s service system, sharing Nio’s service network.”

By the end of 2024, Nio expects to have over 350 service centers in 200 cities nationwide capable of maintaining Onvo vehicles. The company also plans to open dedicated Onvo service centers based on user demand.

Onvo confirmed that its services, including the “one-click maintenance” and door-to-door tire repair, will be available after vehicle deliveries begin. Users can place maintenance orders through the Onvo App and monitor the progress in real-time, receiving detailed maintenance reports.

Onvo services are mature at birth, fully integrated into Nio’s service system, truly saving users worry, time, and money. It also features intelligent services that actively, remotely, and in real-time maintain vehicle health, providing a full-time companion intelligent service experience,” the company added.

The service package exclusive to Onvo models, which will be introduced in September, will follow an insurance fee + service fee model.

Onvo’s services will also leverage intelligent diagnostic equipment and Service Guardian system technology to enable vehicles to “self-diagnose” and “self-repair,” reducing the need for in-shop maintenance and resolving minor issues easily — according to the Q&A.

Unveiled in mid-May, the pre-sale price of Onvo’s first model L60 stands at 219,900 RMB, equivalent to $30,329 with the battery included.

The pricing for the battery as a service (BaaS) version will be only announced at the event in late September.

In late May, Nio’s Senior Vice President and President of the sub-brand Onvo, Alan Ai, announced that the brand is developing six-seat and seven-seat models aimed at larger families.

A few days earlier, William Li, CEO of Nio Group, anticipated direct competition between Onvo and Li Auto, a Chinese car manufacturer preparing to launch its second fully electric model in the first half of 2025.

“Both Onvo and Beijing-based Li Auto target the personal use auto market and their prices overlap. I believe there will definitely be competition between the pair,” the chief executive said.

Meanwhile, Li Auto’s upcoming electric crossover, its second fully electric model, has been spotted multiple times in China over the past months. It is rumored to utilize 800V architecture and support 5C charging.
