Sanjay Chandra, Lucid Motors‘ most senior information technology executive, has stepped down from the company, a person close to the matter told EV on Tuesday.
Chandra joined the Saudi-backed EV maker in March 2021 as VP and Global Head of Information Technology, with responsibility for IT, enterprise systems, global infrastructure, operations and security.
On LinkedIn, the executive says that his role covers “Go-to-Market Technologies, G&A Enterprise Systems, Factory Systems Technologies (Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Logistics) Global Infrastructure, Enterprise Operations and Cyber Security.”
Lucid had not announced the departure as of Tuesday evening, and Chandra’s public profile still listed the company.
The exit extends a leadership exodus that has removed nearly the entire senior team assembled under founder Peter Rawlinson.
EV counted sixteen departures of C-level executives, Senior VPs or VPs between October 2023 and early July.
The list includes strategy chief Claudia Gast at thirteen in February, through engineering chief Emad Dlala and chief operating officer Marc Winterhoff in June, to the replacement of most of the remaining C-suite on July 2.
One of the Last of the 2021 Intake
Chandra arrived as part of a leadership group Lucid assembled in the months before its public listing.
A press release dated May 5, 2021, filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission as part of the Churchill Capital Corp IV merger, announced his appointment alongside three others: Sherry House as Chief Financial Officer, Margaret Burgraff as VP of Software Validation, and Jeff Curry as VP of Marketing and Communications.
House left in December 2023 and later joined Ford, where she succeeded John Lawler as chief financial officer. Burgraff departed in 2024.
Chandra had remained in post longer than either.
He came to Lucid from TiVo, where he spent more than eight years as chief information officer and head of cloud operations, and had earlier held roles at Workday, PayPal and Virgin Mobile USA.
Chandra has recently won the 2025 BayAreaCIO ORBIE Award in the enterprise category, writing afterwards that the award reflected a team that had “built a unified global IT organization that supports every part of the business.”
The executive did not immediately reply to EV‘s request for a comment.
Raja Ramana Macha started as Lucid‘s new chief technology officer this month, pledging to remove bottlenecks in his first public comments.
A Reporting Record
EV has broken each of the most significant senior departures at Lucid over the past year, and the company or the executives themselves have subsequently confirmed all of them.
EV reported on the morning of June 22 that chief operating officer and former interim chief executive Marc Winterhoff had been pushed out.
Lucid confirmed the departure hours later, disclosing that it had eliminated the chief operating officer role entirely and setting out his severance terms.
The November ouster of chief engineer Eric Bach was first reported by EV, which said interim chief executive Winterhoff had forced him out after years of misattributed production delays.
Lucid‘s own release said only that Bach “has departed,” and the company declined to comment on the circumstances.
Weeks later, Bach sued for wrongful termination, a claim the company called absurd, corroborating the account of a forced exit.
He has since liquidated about $3.97 million of stock in two transactions.
The February resignation of strategy chief Claudia Gast was first reported by EV, which identified it as the thirteenth senior exit since October 2023. Lucid confirmed the departure minutes afterwards, in the same release naming a new supply chain head.
Gast resurfaced at General Motors as deputy chief financial officer.
The exit of engineering and software chief Emad Dlala, the first senior loss under chief executive Silvio Napoli, was reported by EV in June. Dlala posted a farewell the following Tuesday, closing a tenure of nearly eleven years.
EV also reported the exit of a senior director of supply chain ahead of the Cosmos unveiling, an account borne out within days by farewell messages posted publicly by Dlala and Middle East president Faisal Sultan.
EV counted seven senior departures in twelve months as early as October 2024, covering digital chief Michael Bell, supply chain and procurement vice president Kevin Callanan and software quality vice president Margaret Burgraff.
The company then went a full year without a permanent chief executive after Rawlinson’s exit.
Losses have continued below the executive tier, with Slate repeatedly hiring senior Lucid staff ahead of its own truck launch.
The Wider Retrenchment
Chandra leaves during the deepest restructuring in the company’s history.
The company cut about 18% of its US workforce in June, with 705 positions in Arizona concentrated at the Casa Grande plant, where a second production shift was eliminated.
The company has retained a turnaround consultancy, as first reported by Carbuzz and then confirmed by EV before the firm confirmed it hours later.
Lucid lost about $2.7 billion in 2025.
Design chief Derek Jenkins remains the sole survivor of the leadership team that ran the company under founder Peter Rawlinson.
The Public Investment Fund, which holds about 56.85% on a converted basis, continues to fund the business through convertible preferred and term loan facilities.
