Kia U.S. reported on Monday that has sold 75,156 vehicles in May of which 7,197 were electric models marking a 127 percent year on year growth and a new record for the manufacturer.
Kia Corporation global sales were 264,313 units, a 2.1 percent decrease year over year while the manufacturer sold 46,110 units in the Korean market, marking an 8.3 percent decrease year on year.
The South Korean manufacturer sold 2,187 units of its EV9 SUV, an increase of 39 percent month-on-month that allowed Kia to reach its best-ever monthly sales. Last week, Kia started the U.S. production of the three-row SUV at the Georgia factory.

Sales of the Kia EV6 reached 2,660 units in May (up from 2,237 in May 2023) while Kia Niro registered 4,215 units, an increase of about 26 percent from the 3,334 units a year ago.
Year to date sales from Kia in the United States reached 320,531 units, one percent lower than the 323,838 vehicles sold until May 31, 2023.
Last month, the company unveiled the upcoming sports utility vehicle, Kia EV3. The Long Range model comes with an 81.4kWh battery, offering an estimated all-electric range of up to 372 miles on a single charge.
The vehicle also supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) charging, allowing occupants to power external devices like laptops, or small fridges.
