Ford Motor Co. plans to halt production of its F-150 Lightning electric pickup from mid-November through early January. In the first nine months of the year, the company sold 22,807 units of its F-150 Lightning model.

The automaker will idle its Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn, Michigan, from November 15 until January 6, Automotive News reported on Thursday.

Ford reported earlier this week its third quarter earnings results, posting a third-quarter loss of $1.2 billion in its electric vehicle (EV) unit. Sales for the Model e division declined by 11% during the quarter.

Ford has recently rolled out aggressive promotional offers for the F-150 Lightning. The 2024 model is now available with 0% APR financing over 60 months.

Additionally, the company’s newly launched “Ford Power Promise” initiative provides EV buyers with a complimentary Level 2 home charger, along with coverage of installation costs. Buyers are also eligible for a $2,000 cash incentive, stackable with the 0% financing offer.

Ford’s battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales in the third quarter totaled 23,400 units, with September U.S. sales reaching around 6,300 units, down 18% from the previous year.

According to CarsDirect, Ford will pay dealers $1,000 for each Lightning (across XLT, Flash, Lariat, and Platinum trims) ordered via RRCs, with the rate increasing to $1,500 for orders exceeding nine vehicles. Dealers could accumulate up to $22,500 through this program.
