Tesla On Track to Set New Sales Record in Norway

Tesla is seeing a sharp increase in vehicle sales in Norway and is on track to reach a new record this month, bucking trends seen in most of its other European markets.

According to the EU-EVs platform, Tesla has registered 330 vehicles this Wednesday in Norway.

Data from X user piloly, who closely tracks Tesla sales data, shows that the last time the brand sold over 350 units in a single day was in December 2023.

Tesla Norway sold 976 vehicles in April and 2,600 in May.

Between June 1 and 18, the company has registered 2,376 units, according to daily figures from EU-EVs. With nearly two weeks of the month remaining, the brand is on track to reach a new monthly record in the market with the highest EV adoption.

In May, Tesla’s sales in Norway jumped 213% year-on-year, driven by strong demand for the Model Y, including both new and previous versions, according to data from the Norwegian Road Federation (OFV).

From April 1 through June 18, Tesla registered 5,824 vehicles in Norway, up 29.9% from the previous quarter and 8.3% higher than the same period last year, when it sold 5,377 units.

If registrations continue at this pace, Tesla’s second-quarter 2025 sales could also surpass the totals from each of the last two quarters of 2024.

From January 1 to March 31, the U.S. brand sold 4,482 electric vehicles in the country, according to data from the Norwegian Road Federation (OFV).

The low figures in the first quarter were marked by February’s sales of only 917 vehicles — as the brand switched to a refreshed version of its best-selling model.

Norwegian registrations soared 212.5% year over year last month, driven by strong demand for the refreshed Model Y, which accounted for about 90% of the units sold by the brand.

The company sold 7,512 units from July to September and 6,609 vehicles from October to December.

Cumulative Tesla deliveries in Norway totaled 7,381 units in the first five months of 2025, up 8.3% from 6,815 a year earlier.

Tesla‘s rising sales in Norway stand in contrast to the overall decline the company is experiencing across its European markets since the start of the year.

The sales decline has been attributed to growing competition from new brands expanding to the continent, as well as CEO Elon Musk’s involvement in U.S. and European politics.

As the company continues to test its supervised Full Self Driving (FSD) system on the continent, the Swedish Traffic Office has blocked testing in Stockholm earlier this week.

Tesla has already shared videos of ongoing testing in Amsterdam (where it aims to launch first), Paris and Rome, as Musk tells drivers to pressure national authorities to overcome regulatory blocks.

The EV maker has recently hired a new head of Business Development for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region (EMEA), as it prepares for the launch of its Semi truck in the old continent.
